Tell Me Again to Vote for Hillary Clinton

Yes I'm still blogging today at least once because though I am spending time with my family today, it's not until the afternoon and I refuse to recognize any holiday that might fall on this date.

Also I woke up to this shit:

Hillary Clinton: Europe must curb immigration to stop rightwing populists

Europe must get a handle on immigration to combat a growing threat from rightwing populists, Hillary Clinton has said, calling on the continent’s leaders to send out a stronger signal showing they are “not going to be able to continue to provide refuge and support”.
In an interview with the Guardian, the former Democratic presidential candidate praised the generosity shown by the German chancellor, Angela Merkel, but suggested immigration was inflaming voters and contributed to the election of Donald Trump and Britain’s vote to leave the EU.

Here's the scary thing. Hillary does not believe that limiting immigration to appease the right is going to stop right wing populism. Or even slow it. It's going to embolden them. Hillary Clinton is a veteran politician who has had the benefit of top-notch education. She knows exactly what she is doing.

So does she want to limit immigration despite the fact that it will encourage the new rise of fascism?

Or because it will encourage the new rise of fascism?

I'm leaning heavily toward the latter.

Listen. I cried on election night 2016 just like you did. I hate Trump with all my soul. I hope he dies today. But Hillary Clinton scares the shit out of me and this is why. THIS is the kind of thing that makes people say that she's just as bad as Trump, and this is the kind of thing that makes me think they have a point. She has very different tactics, and yes Trump does have tactics, but how am I supposed to look at this and think that they don't have the same goals?

No, that's not right. Trump's goal is to get as much for himself as he can and feed his bloated black hole of an ego. Hillary Clinton's goals, well, it's not as easy to say. Ultimately they might be the same or similar. But she is almost certainly thinking way further ahead.

I don't even know right now, actually. Honestly, this is just really upsetting and scary. She's blaming "immigration" on the current rise of fascism. But she's not even calling it fascism, she's calling it "populism," which implicates the left as well as the right. This in spite of the fact that the refugees desperately trying to find a place to survive are and have always been merely a scapegoat. It's economic instability (read: late-stage capitalism) and the fact that the oppressed are starting to grab some power for themselves that has caused fascist uprisings around the world.

There is no doubt in my mind that Hillary Clinton understands this. Yet she's feeding into the scapegoating of migrants.

Neoliberalism is terrifying. Hillary Clinton is not your friend.
