Voter Suppression In Full Swing

You probably know this already, but since the gutting of the Voting Rights Act, states have been going bananas with the purging of voter rolls, closing of poll locations, and everything else they can do to keep the poor, people of color, trans people, and various other disenfranchised populations from voting.

I am sympathetic to the view that voting is just the state's way of giving the people some feeling of control that is largely an illusion to keep them from using more violent and effective means of freeing themselves from state tyranny. But I am also a spiteful bitch, and if assholes are trying to keep me from voting, it makes me want to vote. If you're the same, you should make sure that you still can vote.

This online tool allows you to do so in seconds.

I'm not at all confident in a "blue wave," not am I actually a fan on Democrats. Maybe taking back the House and Senate will only delay the inevitable collapse of the country and resulting riots and chaos and suffering. Maybe it would buy us time to prepare. I really don't know. All I know is that I kind of live for seeing Republicans and white supremacists (tons of overlap there, I know) suffer and whine. It will also send the message that outward, open nazism is not going to be tolerated, at least. It could make a lot of people's lives safer for now.

Again, I don't really know. I'll decide in hindsight, I'm sure.

The point is that if you want to vote, I support that, and I can't not fight against voter suppression. It's just pure facism.

So check your status, and try to make arrangements beforehand to vote, because they're going to be making it as difficult as possible.

Why a Rural Georgia County Wants to Close Almost all its Polling Locations in a Majority Black County

TL;DR: Because racism.

During a “courtesy” meeting Thursday night, the Randolph County Board of Elections, a county located near the Georgia-Alabama border, informed residents of the possibility that seven of the nine voting locations would be eliminated since the county did not have time to make them wheelchair accessible before the midterms, according to local media reports.

Nothing like white, able-bodied people exploiting ableism in support of racism.

In a letter sent to the Randolph County Board of Elections threatening legal action against the county, ACLU Georgia claimed the timing of the proposal was suspicious because the exact same polling locations were used in recent elections earlier this year and because the first black female gubernatorial nominee, Stacey Abrams, will be on the ballot in November.

Yeah no shit it's suspicious.

This shit and all the reports I'm hearing about tens of thousands of people being purged from voter rolls add up to someone reaaalllllyyyy doesn't want us to vote. And the best way to get back at evil assholes is to do the exact opposite of what they want. Just please, for the love of anything, please don't get complacent once the neoliberal Democrats are back in power.
