Gif of the Day

Here it is. The beautiful moment when Judge Aquilina tossed aside the letter saying that making Nassar listen to the testimony of all of his dozens and dozens of victims is too hard on him.

Here's Fascism!

Don't take it from me. Read up on what a woman who's lived in a dictatorship thinks of Trump and the state of the U.S. right now.

"The last of the checks and balances" fuuuuuuuuuuuck lady save us.

There's a bit more to the thread but this is the important part.

Lord Dampnut went into the 2016 election suggesting that it would be rigged by the left. Now he's president. Watch for when he starts saying again that Democrats/liberals are going to rig the 2020 elections. Watch for that moment he suggests, as Wilson says, that we "postpone the 2020 elections until its lawyers are finished investigating something or other." That might not be THE tipping point but it will be a tipping point. If we don't collectively and utterly lose our minds in that moment, democracy will be lost.

And like Wilson says, I hope she and I are wrong. But we need to be prepared.

Seriously. If you want to do something, spread to everyone you know the expectation of an assault on the 2020 elections. I'm also afraid that some on the left will go along with a postponing of election day because they fear Russian interference in the election and (further) hacking. It's right to raise all the concerns about that, but do not let them postpone election day. The second we let them do that, it's over. Election day will never happen. It'll be like Putin's Russia. Even if elections do happen later, opposition leaders will be arrested and supporters will "disappear."

Fight for your country or lose it.

It's my blog and the headlines can be whatever I want.

No, I did not watch the State of the Union address. I decided to wait until the morning to curl up into a ball to await the end of American democracy.

Donald Trump Just Asked Congress to End the Rule of Law

Under the cover of his soothing rhetoric about unity and bipartisanship, Trump called on Congress to give him unprecedented and unquestionably antidemocratic powers: “Tonight,” he said, “I call on the congress to empower every Cabinet secretary with the authority to reward good workers—and to remove federal employees who undermine the public trust or fail the American people.”
By design, it is easy to overlook the true significance of the second half of that phrase. But dwell on it for a moment, and imagine what this would actually look like in practice. Under Trump’s proposal, any Cabinet secretary could decide that, say, a law enforcement official investigating the president had “undermined the public trust” or “failed the American people”—and fire him on the spot. In other words, Trump is calling for an end to any semblance of independence for the IRS, the FBI, the Department of Justice, or any other federal agency.

It could not be more obvious that Trump is trying to create for himself the position that Putin has in Russian right now. He already ignored and defied the rule of law by allowing the deadline to impose sanctions on Russia to pass without doing the thing Congress ordered him to do. Now he wants the people he appoints to just be able to fire anybody they want on the spot.

What's next in this American hellscape?

I've also heard that there was a shit ton of scapegoating Latinx people and immigrants, so yeah, prepare for even worse persecution of those vulnerable groups. Should be a horrifying year.

The look on the cat's face holy shit what did she just smell??

Trump Defying Congressional Order to Impose Sanctions on Russia

It's been a bit since I've done a "Here's Fascism" post but this is one of these. I'm a tad freaked out right now.

Renewing sanctions on Russia this year passed overwhelmingly in the House and Senate. 413-3 and 98-2. This measure giving a deadline to Trump to impose sanctions on Russia. Passed by that much.

The deadline was yesterday.

Trump Administration Signals It Is Not Imposing New Sanctions On Russia

Trump, who wanted warmer ties with Moscow and had opposed the legislation as it worked its way through Congress, signed it reluctantly in August, just six months into his presidency.
Under the measure, the administration faced a deadline on Monday to impose sanctions on anyone determined to conduct significant business with Russian defense and intelligence sectors, already sanctioned for their alleged role in the election.
But citing long time frames associated with major defense deals, Nauert said it was better to wait to impose those sanctions.
“From that perspective, if the law is working, sanctions on specific entities or individuals will not need to be imposed because the legislation is, in fact, serving as a deterrent,” she said in a statement.

What is happening here is that the checks and balances system that keeps any one part of government from taking over and giving itself all the power and imposing a dictatorship is collapsing because Trump is ignoring a direct order by the legislative branch of the U.S. government. They said "do this" and he said "nah."

But people won't react. In another time, this would have been a massive scandal and the American people would have demanded the president's head. Congress would have demanded his head. It would be all over the news. But today? A blip on fucking HuffPo. And this will signal to Trump that the U.S. is ready for dictatorship. We're going to let him do this. So now he can ignore any legislation passed by Congress. And why not the courts, too?

Are we done? Is America done with the whole freedom thing? I guess we are.

And the fact that this is over RUSSIA, because Trump wants to be friendly with Russia, oh my god, what the fuck, shit.

Just Admit You Fucked Up You White Raisin

I'm so tired of powerful, privileged people saying shitty things and then blaming others for the harm caused in their shitty non-apologies. Like it's so easy to just admit you fucked up and say I'm sorry. It really won't kill you, whereas blaming the people who heard your comment for supposedly receiving it into their brains wrong will just make people hate you more.

I'm sure you heard about irrelevant hairy white raisin Grammy president Neil Portnow saying that if women want to get Grammy awards they should "step up" because I guess he thinks that this year all the men were just better and that's why almost none of the awards went to women. Yeah all our problems are because we're just not trying hard enough. Is it any wonder that in his "apology" he blamed us again?

Grammys president says he regrets comment that women need to ‘step up’ to win more awards

On Tuesday morning, the Recording Academy released a statement from Portnow in which he stated, “I regret that I wasn’t as articulate as I should have been.” It also explains, in part:
"Regrettably, I used two words, ‘step up,’ that, when taken out of context, do not convey my beliefs and the point I was trying to make.
Our industry must recognize that women who dream of careers in music face barriers that men have never faced. We must actively work to eliminate these barriers and encourage women to live their dreams and express their passion and creativity through music. We must welcome, mentor, and empower them. Our community will be richer for it. I regret that I wasn’t as articulate as I should have been in conveying this thought."

Take my fist out of context and shove it against your face, Neil.

People like Neil say their words were "taken out of context" and 9 times out of 10 it's bullshit. Guess what, put Neil's words into context and it's just as offensive. All the rest of the quote reveals is that he realizes that there are unfair obstacles that women face in the industry, and he still told us to step up! So instead of just being clueless, he's putting the onus on women to overcome the obstacles that men like him put in our path. Or to remove them. To clean up the mess men left us.

That is not better, Neil. This just made me hate you.

Why can't men like this just be like "I screwed up, I shouldn't have said that, what I said was harmful and I regret that, sorry." Stop digging your own fucking graves, for fuck's sake.

The #MeToo movement has been good, I have to admit. Just yesterday I saw news of a Republican staff member resigning because of allegations of sexual "misconduct" (it was rape). Even after the initial hype has died down, even Republicans can't get away with this shit anymore. But it needs to extend to women who are invisible (or, more accurately, preferably unseen) in our society.

Especially since these women have already been fighting so hard for themselves and each other.

Before #MeToo, women janitors organized to fight workplace harassment

“It was an experience that I wouldn’t wish upon any woman,” she told me back in 2015. During that interview, she could only describe what had happened to her as “sexual harassment,” and she could hardly even make eye contact with me.
Today she’s a different person. When I meet up with her in early December, Hernández is leading other women in a self-defense class in downtown LA. They form a circle and practice how to shout “No!” to fend off an attacker.
Hernández has a big grin on her face as she shows other women how to make a fist to punch someone in the nose.

You need to read the entire article because it's hecka empowering and I need to see this documentary if it's not too triggering. I also need to take one of these self-defense classes, for real.

But also, these women are amazing. Good for them. Great for them. It's always marginalized women who are at this kind of thing first, before rich white ladies make them public. I hope that Georgina Hernández has a wonderful life and finds so much happiness. And if I hear that ICE has touched her I will lose my fucking mind.

Gif of the Day

Oh god the horror.

One More Terrible Thing for Today

Due to antisemitism on the left, I want to first say that many Jewish individuals are against this, and many Israeli citizens are against this. This is an act of the state. Okay?

New Program Will Pay Israeli Citizens Nearly $9K to Hunt, Capture African Migrants for Deportation

Under the nation’s Population and Immigration Authority, civilians would become so-called “immigration inspectors” tasked with “carrying out enforcement tasks against illegal aliens and their employers” for the government’s immigration ministry, Newsweek reported. The ministry has offered “appropriate pay” and upwards of $8,600 in bonuses just to sweeten the deal.
Their goal? To hire at least 100 inspectors by March 2018. A notice posted by the ministry last week stated that 70 inspectors would be brought on for a two–month period to carry out the aforementioned tasks, as well as to “locate, detain and monitor illegal” individuals when necessary. Moreover, the ministry said it’d like to hire 40 people to aid in conducting “comprehensive questioning and investigation of asylum seekers.”

I don't have to point out the obvious, do I? No, because Holocaust survivors are already doing that.

In an open letter sent to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday, the 36 signatories implored Israel to cease its plans to deport Africans, citing their own experience as refugees.
"We, who know precisely what it's like to be refugees, to be homeless and bereft of a state that preserves and protects us from violence and suffering, cannot comprehend how a Jewish government can expel refugees and asylum seekers to a journey of suffering, torment and death," the 36 Holocaust survivors wrote.

And that's just about the deportations, not the scheme to hire random citizens to HUNT DOWN and CAPTURE these human beings.

The intense dehumanization of migrants is terrifying. We should all know by now that calling people "illegal" was something that nazis did to Jewish individuals before rounding them up and murdering millions of them. And now this:

Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has painted a less-than-pretty picture of the African migrants, describing their presence as a threat to Israel’s social fabric, Reuters reported. Another government minister likened them to “cancer.”

It only goes downhill from here.

I have a hard time believing that anyone has forgotten history. I think they just don't care.

This Headline Temporarily Killed My Will to Live

I see (and write) a lot of terrible headlines these days, but it's rare that one makes my eyes roll back in my head as I have to ride out the temporary suspension of any will to live and hope my basic brain functions just keep my heart pumping.

Armed Trump Supporters in Az. Confront, Ask Native American Legislator If He "Is Here Legally"

Literally anybody brown is "illegal" to these people.

“We’re walking back, and they start yelling again, ‘Get out of the country.’ At that point, they pointed to Lisette, called her an illegal, and said, ‘Get out, go back home!’” Robles said. “But they pointed at Jane (Ahern), who works for the House, and they said, ‘No, you can stay.’”
Ahern, a policy adviser for House Democrats, is white…”

Do you think, if confronted with the reality that some immigrants in this country are white, their brains would melt out of their eye holes?

The Native legislator,  Eric Descheenie, being classy as fuck, simply said to these racists: "Don’t ask me that question."

It just further proves that "illegal" is simple code for "you're not white and therefore I hate you" to these white supremacist assholes.

Nazi Murders Gay Jewish Friend

You know, Holocaust Remembrance Day passed by without me even hearing a peep about it until yesterday. The actual day was on Saturday, the 27th. I'm probably not following enough Jewish people on social media but also, nothing in the news? Not even with our increasing nazi problem?

California Murder Suspect Said to Have Trained With Extremist Hate Group

The California man accused of killing a 19-year-old University of Pennsylvania student earlier this month is an avowed neo-Nazi and a member of one of the most notorious extremist groups in the country, according to three people with knowledge of the man’s recent activities.
The man, Samuel Woodward, has been charged in Orange County, California, with murdering Blaze Bernstein, who went missing in early January while visiting his family over winter break. Prosecutors allege that Woodward stabbed Bernstein more than 20 times before burying his body in an Orange County park where it was eventually discovered. The two men had attended high school together.

Out in the fucking woods, no less.

Do you realize how terrifying this is for Jewish people? Nazis taking them out into the woods to murder them? 1940's flashback anyone?

Somehow shit like this has not entered the mainstream newsreel. Hey. for a late Holocaust Remembrance Day present, maybe us not-Jewish people could at least pay attention to news of nazis murdering them for being Jewish and possibly also for being gay?

Because this is seriously fucked.

Dear god I'm not sure who is cuter here.

Writing Neutral Headlines is Actually Impossible

You can tell I'm not a Twitter person because apparently this has been a thing happening and I had no idea until today. But I guess Chelsea Manning, who says she was acting as a spy, was spotted in some photos hanging out with alt-right fucks and everybody lost their minds, and now there's an article out about the whole thing.

Chelsea Manning on Her Alt-Right Partying: I Was a Spy, Not a Racist

The author appears to be skeptical of Manning's story that she was infiltrating alt-right crowds to try and feed info to anti-fascist groups. At least, it seems like it to me - I might be reading into some of the language. Manning herself has said that she understands that many of her followers and fellow trans people feel betrayed by the revelation that she has been associating with these evil people and appears to very much regret doing it. The author is also trans and has every right to her feelings.

I'm cis and white, and a considerable fan of Manning, and this all has an influence on my reaction and feelings around this story. My initial feeling is that Manning's story makes sense. The author says:

Manning’s decision-making process appears nonsensical to all but the most ardently engaged in the anti-fascist movement and the whole thing has an air of impulsiveness.

Just based on this article, I don't find it nonsensical at all, and I don't consider myself to be actively engaged in anti-fascist workings, though what the author means by that is perhaps different than what I think. I am definitely anti-fascist and write in support of anti-fascist activity. I am not in contact with any groups that actively engage in antifa tactics. I have never been part of a black bloc thing. So... I dunno.

But I myself have considered the possibility of using my white and cis privilege to infiltrate alt-right groups. My only disadvantage would be my gender if I could successfully hide my queerness. I have seriously considered going among the people of local white supremacist rallies to try and determine what the mood was and figure out their plans. Or even just to try and understand what the fuck is wrong with them, because I'm always trying to do that.

If given a real opportunity to infiltrate the alt-right, I might decide to go for it, and it might be on impulse. It might have to be, because as soon as I really think about what that might mean, I get scared.

I can completely understand an initial feeling of intense betrayal and hurt upon seeing photos of Manning with horrible alt-right fascists, smiling and even laughing, without knowing her intentions. But in just reading this article, I feel like I can believe Manning. I am a little bit cautious because I've been burned before. But at this point, nothing about her story sounds suspicious. Even her laughing face in the photo of her with that Gavin shithead I can understand. The number of times I've laughed when presented with an intensely uncomfortable or even threatening situation, I mean. It's a very common reaction, nervous laughter. I wish I didn't react like that, but my lower brain functions take over.

Maybe I'm giving Manning a lot of rope here. Again, I have an amount of privilege that shields me from the hurt I'm sure a lot of people experienced over hearing this. Manning understands and has expressed regret over the whole thing.

“People have every right to be confused and hurt by this,” Manning said. “Regardless of good intentions, I leveraged my privilege to gain access to spaces others couldn’t dream of entering safely. I never meant to hurt my supporters. No amount of information on the alt-right is worth losing the trust of my supporters.”

Maybe she's right. Though I feel like leveraging your privilege for the ultimate benefit of the oppressed is generally a good thing, maybe this wasn't appropriate for a public hero like Manning. Maybe it would have been better for her to stay... more pure? Not sure if that's the right word. I'm not even sure if any information on the alt-right is ultimately helpful, because they don't even seem to know what the fuck they're doing. But it is interesting to learn that she thinks many of them don't actually believe in their own rhetoric and are just opportunists. Which doesn't make them any better. Just a different kind of awful and soulless.

There's a lot to consider here and I'm sure more opinion pieces will come out on the entire thing. I just hope transphobes don't lean on this too much to attacking Manning for being a trans woman, but they almost certainly will.

When Women Refuse

There's a lot of fretting and pondering by men going on right now about consent and "why don't women just say no if they don't want to?" First of all, there's the entire thing where women are socialized not to say no to men, and then there's the other entire thing where it's generally against social norms to straight say "no" to anything, and men have been trained to ignore anything else.

But if you need more, or, as is more likely to be your situation, if you need something to send to assholes who keep asking that completely asinine questions, here's a handy link to send (trigger warning for fucking everything):

When Women Refuse

This is a Tumblr blog that contains horrific story after horrific story of what happens when women say no. It's literally dangerous. If you doubt that, go and read. And keep reading until you fucking get it.

If I had my way, any person (not just men because women in intense denial are asking that fucking question too) who says "why don't women just say no" should be required to have these stories read to them until such time as they break down crying and beg forgiveness.

Peak Sexism

I can't remember if I blogged about Larry Nassar, world's worst man, when the news about the accusations against him first came out. I remember reading about it a while ago, when the trend of sexual harassment and assault allegations was first starting. Or was it during or just after the 2016 Olympics? I honestly can't remember, because it's all so fucking disturbing that my brain is very reluctant to process any of it.

But now that it's everywhere, I don't feel the need to force my brain to pay attention to it long enough to write about it. I thought I could let it all pass without having to add my voice to the masses because this is one of the few things we can all agree on, right? 150 victims and a full confession are too much even for the most ardent deniers.

I continue to underestimate men's capacity for bullshit.

Apparently, there are men out there complaining about the judge in the Nassar case because she was too mean or some shit to the serial child predator while she was tearing him a new one fOR BEING A SERIAL CHILD PREDATOR. AND EXPECTING SOME KIND OF SYMPATHY.

In reality, Judge Aquilina was a badass awesome fucking miracle of a woman and treated that steaming pile of filth with the exact right level of disgust. But now, a woman is being harassed for tweeting this:

It's worse than them calling Judge Aquilina "mean." Looking through Celia's tweet list, men are calling this incredible judge an "attention whore," too emotional, and accusing her of doing it for political points.

News flash guys! People with souls don't need the motivation of political points to treat SERIAL CHILD MOLESTERS with disdain. And the fact that you apparently didn't know this makes me want to treat you with disdain :). I hate you.

And seriously you know you're standing up for the worst guy ever, right? Like lol is your hatred of women really worth this? MEN.

Also there's an entire thread explaining how judges are constantly expressing their judgments of defendants, calling them "thugs," "animals," "monsters," and have we not been yelling loud enough about all the judges who blame victims of abuse and rape, even when the perpetrator has confessed? But NOW you're concerned about judges offering their opinions on the bench?

Fuckkkkkk youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.

This might be the best thing I've ever seen.

So Remember All Those Horrible Things I've Been Talking About?

This is like a combination of the border agents being heartless murderers and the authorities targeting immigration activists.

Volunteer arrested hours after his group exposed Border Patrol dumping water left for migrants

Last week, humanitarian and immigrant rights organizations No More Deaths and La Coalición de Derechos Humanos released a report and videos that exposed Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents intentionally vandalizing and destroying life-saving jugs of water left by No More Deaths for border crossers in the desert. Just hours after the release, Scott Daniel Warren, an Arizona State University instructor and volunteer with the organization, was arrested on a federal harboring charge for providing two migrants with food and water.

You can be arrested for giving hungry people food and thirsty people water, apparently. Though I already knew that you can be arrested for feeding the homeless, too. Boy does our government hate it when we don't let the poor and desperate die.

This makes me want to move down south and spend all my free time leaving food and water out for immigrants/refugees or maybe straight up helping to smuggle people into the country because FUCK THIS MURDEROUS ANTI-IMMIGRANT BULLSHIT.

God DAMN that is a good Tracer cosplay and I am very gay.

This is the Worst Thing I've Ever Heard Of

Police brutality isn't only for the U.S.

Seriously, huge trigger warnings here, just, ugh. But I want to say up front at least it was found that the police violated the boy's rights.

Teenager Trey Sims forced to masturbate in front of armed police had his rights violated

The entire story is horrific, like, oh my god. All this because a 17-year-old was sexting with his 15-year-old girlfriend. I mean, I would be concerned even with a small age gap like that at that age due to the rapid development of the brain in one's teen years, but that does not warrant that kind of awful treatment.

The other good news is that the officer responsible killed himself. The victim is still alive and suing the fuck out of the police department. But the fact that this was allowed to happen is absolutely disgusting and unacceptable. The victim might be scarred for life. That would scar just about anyone for life. Fuck. The. Police.

ICE is Targeting Immigrant Activists for Deportation

Am I the only person terrified by this? Sorry, am I the only white person terrified by this? Does this sound familiar to anyone?

ICE targets prominent immigration activist for deportation

Maru Mora Villalpando, 47, known nationwide as an immigrant leader and a key organizer of protests at the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma, received a notice to appear in immigration court, a first step toward deportation.
“I believe that ICE sent me this letter and started deportation proceedings against me because they are not so much against my immigration status, but against my political work,” Villalpando said in her first interview since receiving notice from ICE. “This is political oppression. That’s what they’re doing. ICE is finalizing the transition from law enforcement into a political-oppression apparatus.”

It's not just her. News of important immigrant activists being detained and flagged for deportation keeps popping up across the country.

The rest of us have to do something. We need to protect them. They're being targeted because so many people in this country have already convinced themselves that immigrants, at least brown ones, don't deserve any rights. That the U.S. Gestapo can do anything to them, that they deserve to die, because they crossed an imaginary line in the sand in a desperate bid to survive. Those of us that recognize that humans are human have to fight ICE. I will.

All Hail the New Economy!

There is a reason that government reports are claiming that the economy is so much better and unemployment rates are low. Unemployment rates are, technically, low - for a capitalist system, at least. But here's why you're still miserable. Alternatively, here's why us poor Millennials are still complaining.

The majority of US workers live in "employment monopsonies" where there is little or no competition for workers

Basically, monopolies are back, because we got rid of all those monopoly and anti-trust laws that workers fought so hard for! So now even though there are jobs, there is so little competition for workers because there are like five giant corporations who own everything.

So yeah, we have jobs. They all pay shit and give no benefits, they all demand two years of experience for "entry level" positions. Many of them demand that you work ridiculous hours with no schedule stability or notice. And when people tell us to just find another job if we don't like how we're being treated or paid, we just have to laugh as we scream on the inside. Because THERE IS NOTHING BETTER.

Where should I work in the Seattle area? Amazon? Or Microsoft? Or Amazon? Or Microsoft? OH or maybe one of those tech startups that will inevitably be bought up by Amazon or Microsoft????

This is an inevitability in capitalism. We can turn back the clock a little sometimes by literally sacrificing some of our lives in terrible struggle, but capitalism will keep marching us toward the company town.

Okay what the fuck.

Transphobia in the 2018 Women's March

We keep saying that it's time to get the transphobia out of feminism. But it was in full force on Saturday.

Trans woman afraid to attend Halifax women's march after verbal attacks

The verbal attacks against Peek started last Saturday after she posted a statement on the women's march Facebook page expressing her concerns about inclusivity, particularly for Black, Indigenous and/or queer people.
Over the next 18 hours, the post garnered more than 500 comments. The back-and-forth exchanges on the post saw many people targeting Peek’s gender with hateful comments.
"I made a post on the women's march page and instantly got attacked," she said.

There are examples of the abusive comments at the link, where cis feminists misgender her and make generally transmisogynistic comments. And Peek had every reason to fear being attacked at the actual march.

Going to a women's march to attack women. But sure, trans women are the misogynists.

This isn't okay. And it's not okay that all those people around her let her carry that sign next to them unchallenged. In fact, it makes me second guess my decision to block out their faces. But you can find this image online unedited.

This sign is just so hypocritical.

TERFs: Being a woman is not a performance of a stereotype!

Trans woman: *dresses in clothing traditionally considered masculine*

Also TERFs: How can you call yourself a woman when you don't even dress like one???

Not to mention not "looking like a woman" by wearing makeup and "dressing feminine," etc., is used as an excuse to deprive trans women of hormone therapy.

I didn't go to the women's march this year. Protesting feels pointless these days. But maybe I should have gone so that I could look out for TERF shit, or maybe passed out fliers to people with pussy hats about transmisogyny. I hate that this is such a problem in feminism. We really must stop tolerating it.

I'm not sure what kind of noise goes with this.

Foxes are weird.

Also Heartless: Border Agents

It's tough to get me to this level of infuriated anymore but like, it's too the point that I can't even make words to describe how I'm feeling, it just feels like my brain might explode and my eyeballs might melt out of my head as I just scream a scream that will echo to the ends of the universe and hopefully shatter the world.

They have poured out or sabotaged over 3,500 gallons of water. Look at the smug fuck in that video, just pouring out that water. Flint, Michigan still doesn't have clean water. Cape Town in South Africa is facing a serious water crisis with only 90 days of clean water left for its citizens. And this shitfucker just stands there and pours out good water that could save the life of someone dying in the desert because god forbid a migrant live to make it somewhere safe in our country.

These supplies are left out there because so many migrants die in that desert. The migrants aren't going to know about it, and if they somehow do, they aren't going to know that these abhorrent shams of human beings are actively sabotaging them. Doing so is not going to be a deterrent. It's clearly not, because migrants keep fucking dying out there even though they've been doing this for a long fucking time.

So the only conclusion that we can make is that these border agents want the overwhelmingly Lantinx migrants to die out there. They want them to die. They want them to die horribly of thirst and exposure rather than live to exist in the U.S.

And they are dying. How many human beings have come across these emptied water jugs and died of thirst after? How many people has the border patrol fucking murdered??? How much blood do you have on your hands, you soulless demons??? Huh???

I fucking hate this country and everything about it. And I hate racists. So much.

The definition of SPROING.

I know I usually alternate but I have an overload of animal gifs right now so whatever.

Deportation is Heartless

I do not understand how so many people can be okay with deportations. Whether they're dreamers or are "contributing" to the economy or not. Deportations tear apart families, often putting the part of the family that stays at economic risk (when most of these families are already in or close to poverty), and they put the deportee's life at risk. What of the man who was brought to this country at age 10, too old to be a dreamer but still a fucking child?

And what of all the people who came here as adults, fleeing horrific gang violence in their countries caused by our "war on drugs," but not classified as refugees because ????? probably because our government would have to spend a little money to help them or something. Or admit it did wrong. They came here because it was the best option out of a lot of shit options. It may have been the only option with a reasonably low risk of death, though the journey would still have been very dangerous.

What of the men coming here to work so they can send money back to their families? What noble men they are, leaving all their loved ones and friends behind to make a difficult journey to a strange and hostile country, to work long hours for low pay and no benefits, exploited and overworked, doing the work that white people in the U.S. literally cannot handle, just so they can make their families' lives easier. Because again, we made their countries violence and unstable. If these countries are shitholes, it's because we made them shitholes. I'd rather be from a "shithole" country than an evil one.

And what of these mystical "economic migrants" used as scapegoats by white supremacists and general racists? Even if they exist exactly as these bigots describe them, I don't care. If a few men get away with coming here when they don't necessarily need to just to make some more money, who gives a fuck? They're not the ones making you poor, I promise. It's the billionaires hoarding billions of dollars for themselves, keeping it out of the economy and sucking up resources from those "shithole countries" and exploiting their workers to make yet another buck to add to the massive pile. If thousands, maybe millions of people can come here and be safe, if families can stay together without fear, if we stop sending people to die in countries they barely even remember, it's 10,000% worth it.

Bring on the economic migrants. They can't possibly do more damage to us than we've done to their homes.

But again, they're imaginary. Boogeymen invented to give heartless racist fucks an out. They can pretend they're against "economic migrants," and that justifies an immigration system that causes massive suffering and incalculable death. In reality, they'd rather people of color die than come live within their imaginary borders. Because they are heartless, soulless monsters. In reality, economic migrants are very often refugees who haven't been classified as refugees. Yes, many immigrants come to white-controlled countries to make more money, because in their home countries, they're in desperate poverty that leaves them at high risk of death.

Others actually immigrated to places like Libya on the promise of good-paying work, only to realize they were lied to, and then they're basically or literally enslaved. If they manage to flee, they might have to take themselves and their families far away to avoid being recaptured or to avoid retaliation against their families. So they head for Italy on incredibly dangerous voyages that have resulted in thousands of people, including children, dead in the water.

But racists who scream about "economic migrants" don't care about reality. Because they are heartless. They don't care if other people suffer and die, because they're heartless. Flee to England or die? Racists (conservatives) think they should just die. Because they're fucking monsters.

Guys, It's Time for Some Hard Truths

Is all this discussion about sexual assault, rape culture, #MeToo, etc., making you uncomfortable? Well, buckle the fuck up, because it's time we had some real talk. There are some things you need to hear and need to accept if we want rape culture to end.

Think you're a good dude, do you? Read on.

If you were with a person in a sexual manner and they expressed discomfort, hesitation, or reluctance, and you kept going? You committed sexual assault. Whether you knew at the time that such a thing is sexual assault does not matter.

If you have ever pressured someone into sexual contact, whether they were hesitant and first and then said yes after you pressured them, or they said nothing and you kept going and they let you, or non-verbally indicated that they did not want something and you stopped, only to try again a minute later, you have been an active participant in rape culture, up to and including being a rapist. If the person you did that to does not feel assaulted, traumatized, or violated from that encounter, consider yourself fucking lucky. But it still doesn't make you innocent.

This applies to women who have pressured or coerced someone into sexual contact at any level, too. But this is mostly an issue of men doing this to women, non-binary people, or other men.

Right now, a lot of men need to face facts that they have been active participants in and perpetuators of rape culture. That they may have seriously hurt multiple people in their lives. They need to think on it, examine their feelings around it, consider the harm they did, accept their culpability, and vow not to make the same mistake again.

If you still don't think what you did was wrong, then I will rest with the belief that your sins will catch up with you. And get the fuck off my blog.

Gif of the Day

I love how cats are like instant dorks the second they get playful.

God Damnit YouTube

The existence of trans women is not inappropriate. And trans women running for office does not need to be hidden from children. For the sake of fuck.

Transgender activist Chelsea Manning’s Senate video listed as ‘inappropriate’ by YouTube

The good news is that Chelsea Manning is running for Senate in Maryland!! But of course the bad news is that she'll have to deal with this kind of bullshit.

In the campaign video, released Sunday, Manning says Americans should “stop expecting that our systems will fix themselves” and calls for citizens to “take the reigns of power”.
She explains: “We don’t need, or better leaders, we need someone willing to fight.
“We need to stop asking them to give us our rights. They won’t support us, they won’t compromise.”
The video has been labelled “inappropriate for some users” and is age restricted.

GOD DAMNIT YOUTUBE. LGBTQ+ people have been complaining about this new tagging of any video involving the existence of trans or queer people as inappropriate, and clearly this hasn't been fixed. Honestly, fuck all of YouTube.

But congratulations to Chelsea Manning. I want to move to Maryland just to vote for her.

Judge Not

Something I realized lately is the stark difference in the left and the right when it comes to judging people. And by judging people, I mean thinking yourself so smart and important and special and downright god-like that you can determine who deserves to live and who deserves to die. I'm saying that the right is doing all that, to be clear.

I'm currently reading Conquest of Bread, an anarcho-communist book. For those of you who didn't know, anarcho-communist is the fusion of anarchist and communist theory. It's about as left as you can get, I think. Of course, I'm also perpetually reading the bullshit that comes out of the heads of people on the far right. Recently, there was yet another argument between pro-choice and pro-life people on Tumblr, and something a pro-lifer said made it click.

This person was dismissing the essential bodily autonomy argument of pro-choicers. The idea that you cannot be forced to give someone blood or a kidney even if they will die without it. It's never even been suggested that we make obligatory organ donation law because it's horrifying to even contemplate taking away that level of bodily autonomy. But a pro-lifer countered with this:

oh boy, the “a rando doesn’t have the right to your kidney, and a new human who was forced to grow in your body by no choice of its own is totally the same thing,” argument.

What is with this language? Why is the person who needs a kidney to live any more random than a bunch of unwanted cells developing in a uterus? Why is there a bizarre assumption that the "rando" chose to be in a situation where they needed a kidney to live? Who would choose that? There may be an assumption that anyone who needed a kidney must have done something bad to be in that situation, like used drugs or something. But very often that is not the case. Some people experience kidney failure because of genetic diseases, usually it's a complication from some other medical problem they did not choose. That they were forced into. Why is the baby more deserving of life? So much so that it overrides the right to bodily autonomy?

It's likely the idea that the pregnant person forced the "baby" into the situation by having sex. But let's say you shot someone in the kidney. And because of that, they needed a new kidney. Maybe they had already given away the other one. Even if you were a match with them, you still could not be legally forced to give them one of your two kidneys. You couldn't even be forced to give them blood if they were bleeding out and you two shared an incredibly rare blood type. No one would think of trying to legally force you to do that. After you maliciously forced a guy into a situation where he was bleeding out of his only remaining kidney.

But in the mind of the pro-lifer, a rando with kidney failure deserves to die more than an embryo. Why do they get to decide that?

Then I'm reading Conquest of Bread, and the author is explaining why you can't possibly measure how much each worker deserves in pay even if you're going to nationalize everything and make sure everyone is paid enough to live. Because considering all the millions of factors that go into every job and how interconnected everything is, you could never ever reasonably calculate how much money any one profession deserves. You can't make that kind of judgment. So just pay everybody the same.

Makes perfect sense to me.

I also recently read money referred to as "imaginary human worth points." I like that.

To me, a dirty leftist, judging people is wrong, and acting like I can determine who deserves to live and die is worse. Thinking I somehow have the moral authority to determine that is terrible. And it's supposed to be sinful.

On another post, someone argues that conservatism and Christianity are incompatible. Conservatives hate immigrants, after all. And Christians flock to the post to explain that they don't hate immigrants, just illegal immigrants, or "economic migrants" (read: an imaginary boogeyman of an immigrant who comes to a white-controlled country purely to make money for himself even though he's fine in his home country).

What this means is that they, the conservatives who responded that way and all the ones who think like this, believe they know or get to decide who are the good immigrants and who are the bad ones. And since so many of the immigrants who come here are in fact fleeing for their lives, and deporting them is often a death sentence, they're essentially declaring who deserves to live and who deserves to die. They do the same with the poor. They don't hate poor people, just the ones who deserve to be poor because they made some bad decisions, or got addicted to drugs, or didn't become poor the way the conservatives think they should have.

Conservatives think they have the right or the ability to judge. That they can and get to decide who deserves to live, who deserves to die, who deserves to suffer, who deserves to be healthy and happy. I think I don't get to decide that. I don't get to look through someone's life and measure their sins to decide if they deserve the suffering they experience.

Don't get me wrong. I do judge people. You can tell that by the way I'm broad-painting all conservatives right now, can't you? But I'm not saying that conservatives deserve suffering. If a conservative was sick or poor, I wouldn't try to argue that they deserve that. I might say certain people deserve suffering or death out of anger. But generally, I don't spend a shit ton of my time trying to convince myself that poor people deserve to be poor, and immigrants deserve to be torn from their families and shipped off to their probable deaths, and that refugees don't deserve safety and life, and that people who are sexually assaulted deserved that, too.

I don't think I could possibly judge whether a person suffering deserved it when I don't know a single thing about them. And even if I was given all the knowledge about their entire lives, circumstances, and deeds, I don't think I would have the right to sentence them to anything. Suffering or happiness. How much they should be paid for their work. Anything.

I'm not god, after all.

And that's the difference between what I see on the right and the left. Conservatives have some kind of god complex that makes them think they can decide which total strangers deserve suffering. And it's always conveniently the ones who they can blame for their own troubles. Those on the left seemed to have learned some fucking humility, and think that we should provide for everyone without trying to judge whether they deserve it, because guess what? That judgmental shit is what gets people killed.

Maybe that's why the Bible says "judge not."

Awwww. Pretty soon these will be hopping over human corpses.

Building a Sex Empire for Women

Kate is a political writer from Pennsylvania. Her favorite topics are feminist-focused, but she writes on a wide variety of social and cultural issues. If you enjoy her work, you can follow her on Twitter or visit her blog, Only Slightly Biased.

For too long, women’s sexual desires weren’t discussed or really taken into consideration. The remnants of those stereotypes and repression continue today. In America, we’ve been fed a tale of men’s sexual desires being the primary focus, with people like Hugh Hefner hijacking the women’s sexual liberation movement and taking center stage on our country’s view of sex and sexuality.
But in Germany, things were much different. Their sexual empire wasn’t built by a man parading girls half his age around in skimpy bunny outfits. It was built by a woman named Beate Uhse, and she made an empire that empowered women instead.

The Beginnings

Uhse was pioneering already with her first career as a WWII pilot. After the war was over, families were struggling with having enough food to eat and a place to stay. Money was tight, and unwanted pregnancies were an issue when families couldn’t afford to have another mouth to feed.
Uhse distributed a pamphlet about natural contraception methods for women, and it grew shortly after to a full mail-order business with a variety of products.

The Female Focus

Beate Uhse’s products and information focused on a healthy sex life in marriages, with extra attention paid to women and their desires. Making sure both parties in the relationship were sexually fulfilled was important.
Uhse knew women’s problems when it came to sex, and she helped communicate those issues to men who had no idea they existed. This advice then led to Beate Uhse providing products that were intended as solutions. She understood her business and made sure it was profitable, while still giving couples the advice and knowledge they needed to ensure both parties’ satisfaction.

The Hefner Issue

Hugh Hefner’s take, on the other hand, was focused on the objectification of women, serving them up as playthings to fulfill men’s wild desires. Playboy bunnies had strict rules they had to follow regarding appearances and personality while working at the mansion. They had to constantly be at the perfection level men expected them to be at. The Playboy mansion wasn’t a place to have an off day.
While Hefner defenders will say that Playboy featured articles by some quality authors and discussed some bigger issues, there were always pictures of naked women that he knew sold magazines. His reputation for romancing multiple younger women is also prominent, as is his reputation for being controlling and demanding over the women in his care.
Both Uhse and Hefner represented the audience their businesses catered to. Hefner was always the literal playboy, smoking a cigar in a mansion while surrounded by women. He’s seen as having it all, the ultimate men’s dream life. Uhse, however, was a married mother, who included her husband in the business. She reflected the reality of committed sexual relationships instead of the male fantasy.

The Legacy

In Germany and throughout Europe, the Uhse name is known. Her business grew into sex shops that catered toward women. The stores featured feminine fixtures and signage to showcase that they were truly shops for women. The Beate Uhse name is synonymous with sexual revolution.
While Hefner’s name is of course widely known as well, his legacy is a bit different. It’s tainted with his actions toward women and accusations that he was abusive with his Playmates. When you build your business on objectifying women, it’s hard to fully move past that shadow.
Beate Uhse is the one we should be looking up to as a pioneer of sexual revolution and liberation for all parties. Both battled for sexual liberation, but only one of them has a legacy of promoting a realistic and healthy view of what liberated sex for women looks like.

Science Finds Men Understand Body Language, Ignore It

The Aziz Ansari thing is hard to write about. Yes, I was hoping he was one of the few good men. I was hoping he was one of the few real male allies. I loved his stand-up special speaking out against men who harass women online and in person. How he explained the difference between how men harass women on Twitter and his experiences on Twitter. Just before the news came out, I was thinking about him after yet another dude messaged me to call me a fat lesbian for my South Park article.

But the truth is that I'm not surprised. There were other parts of his stand-up that concerned me. The way he talks about dating women and texting women like it's a game he can't figure out suggested that he couldn't connect with women on a real level. And that suggests that he doesn't think of women as people. I watched the first season of Master of None. You know what it kind of reminded me of?

I'd like to believe that Aziz is really a feminist ally that just never learned how to interact with women and never learned about consent. But that becomes really hard to believe when you consider the basics of feminism. If he were really an ally, really cared at all about women, then the first thing he should have learned is about consent and how to be sexual with women. He never even asked for consent. Asking her where she wanted him to fuck her doesn't count.

So the only logical conclusion is that Aziz is another fake ally - a predator who used his status as a "woke bae" to get women to trust him before he assaulted them and shield himself from accusations. I'm disappointed and I'm hurt.

But I'm more disappointed in all the supposed feminist women and all the supposed allies using the same old lines to defend him that sexists and general assholes use to defend men these feminists and liberals don't like - men they're happy to condemn because they didn't like him to begin with. I'm tired of seeing supposed feminists turn on feminism and prop up rape culture for the sake of their friends. Hypocrites are everywhere, I guess.

I think that in the face of this newest revelation, it's time for feminism to take a new step. I see a lot of jokes or not-so-much-jokes about "why don't men understand body language" and "what is wrong with men why don't they get basic human interaction?" Let's be done with that, jokes or not. Because the truth is, men understand completely. Men, like all humans, recognize non-verbal cues just fine. They choose to ignore them, and saying "oh I didn't know" is just a convenient excuse. And it's time for us to stop allowing and abetting that excuse.

Mythcommunication: It’s Not That They Don’t Understand, They Just Don’t Like The Answer

Check the date. This article was published in 2011 about a study that came out in 1999. This has been out there for nearly 20 years. This is what they found:

Drawing on the conversation analytic literature, and on our own data, we claim that both men and women have a sophisticated ability to convey and to comprehend refusals, including refusals which do not include the word ‘no’, and we suggest that male claims not to have ‘understood’ refusals which conform to culturally normative patterns can only be heard as self-interested justifications for coercive behaviour.

Men understand non-verbal cues. They understand facial expressions and body language that means no. They just ignore them and then pretend they didn't get it. They use this excuse to abuse and rape women. And what Aziz Ansari did? That was rape. Penetration happened. Aziz Ansari raped a woman. Aziz Ansari is a rapist. And like so many men before him, he ignored clear non-verbal refusals and clear signs of her discomfort and unwillingness so that he could rape a woman and then claim that he didn't know she didn't want it, and therefore he's sorry but innocent.

This has happened time and time again. Anybody claiming this wasn't rape because she didn't say no is either full of shit or has been living under a rock. Anyone calling themself a feminist who says she is to blame should be ashamed. We should all be familiar with the pattern of coercive date rape by now.

We should all know that rape almost never looks like a dude in a mask jumping out of the bushes and dragging a woman kicking and screaming into an alley. Rape often looks like men taking advantage of cultural messages that tell women that saying "no" is not okay and that if women don't say "no" explicitly then they don't have to stop. That is what Aziz Ansari did. And the story of the victim reads like so many similar stories I've read. Hundreds of them over the years, because I actually care. And it is rape.

This is massively common. This is a huge cultural problem. We need to name it. Men do understand non-verbal cues, and they can detect discomfort, and they know when verbal refusals that aren't just an explicit "no" mean "no." They choose to ignore this and assault women, confident that social norms will protect them from consequences. This has to change. This will change. This is changing. And Aziz Ansari's fans and friends are either going to have to deal or become rape apologists who will be left in the dust of history. Your choice.

Urg my heart.

Happy MLK Day!

Today is actually a good day to take off. Dr. King would have wanted us to take holidays to rest and not work ourselves to death for the sake of the rich.

I hope you're able to. If you can't, at least try to steal a little something from your bosses. Remember, they steal from you every minute you're on the clock.

Happy MLK Day!

Recommended Reading

This one is for women.

Usually, my recommended readings are for people with privilege to help them examine and understand said privilege and inspire them to do something about it. This one is for women, even those of us with much privilege (of which I am one). Because the wonderful Ijeoma Oluo has declared 2018 the Year of Rage.

Does This Year Make Me Look Angry?

The rage of seeing all that we love, all that we’ve been able to hope for, all that we’ve been told to sacrifice for the “greater good” burned to the ground by white men in a toddler tantrum because for eight years the president didn’t look like them, and because the next president threatened to look even less like them—that is not a rage that consumes, that immolates. It’s a rage that fuels, that arms. We are starting to taste the collective power of our rage. We are starting to see the possibilities of a reckoning and revolution. And, as scary as it is, we have no choice but to risk it.
If you wanted to avoid our rage, perhaps you shouldn’t have left us with so little to lose.

I think that since last November of 2016, my rage has felt impotent. I've felt like my anger was useless, clearly. All that energy I had put into fighting against the patriarchy and rape culture couldn't stop Captain Grab 'Em from being elected President, a phrase that still makes me want to spit. And maybe that was why I couldn't get excited or even optimistic about #MeToo and sexual predators facing consequences.

But this piece stirred something in me that I had nearly forgotten. This day, I feel the power of my anger again. She's right. We are starting to taste the collective power of our rage. And men are terrified out of their minds.

As they should be.

I'm ready to go again. I'm ready for 2018 to be the Year of Our Rage. The Year of the Power of Women.

Grab us and you'll fucking regret it.

We Need a Moral and Spiritual Revolution

As time has gone on and the future of this country, and the world, have seemed increasingly bleak, I have dealt with an overwhelming sense of a complete lack of morality from the people on the right. These are, of course, the same people who claim moral authority because they've claimed Christianity as their own, despite the fact that they advocate for everything that is the opposite of Jesus' teachings.

These people who claim moral and spiritual authority are, in fact, utterly devoid of morals. Devoid of compassion. They seem to entirely lack souls. All they care about is themselves. Their leaders are willing to let countless people suffer and die just to fill their pockets a little bit more. They're heartless. They're monsters. And so many people, despite being among those suffering and being taken from, will bend over backwards to defend not only their right to take, but the supposed morality of doing so. Mostly by parroting lies about the poor, saying anything possible, no matter how blatantly false, to try and convince themselves and others that the poor deserve to suffer and die.

I still can't wrap my head around it. But I do know that it doesn't have to be this way. Christianity, in the past, has been a driving force for good. It's defended and supported people no one else would. It was a Christian movement that was responsible for rights for prisoners and an end to the horrific conditions they had been subject to, which have been slowly creeping back into existence. Real Christians have championed feeding and sheltering the poor.

Somehow, the entirety of the teachings of the Christ have been forgotten or are being ignored by millions of so-called Christians in this country. It's been replaced by a cold, heartless philosophy that says you must deserve whatever you have, whether it's obscene wealth or nothing but pain.

It doesn't have to be this way. Throughout history, spiritual revivals have popped up periodically. Sometimes they're shit, like the Evangelical Christian revival. But when they're actually based in morality and not hating others, they're great. And this doesn't have to be just about Christianity. That's just the religion I'm most familiar with. We need a general moral and spiritual revival.

The U.S. is so spiritually dead right now. Many of those who claim to be spiritual leaders here are doing it purely for the money. Which is the opposite of spiritual. They're dead inside. So many people are dead inside and miserable. Those who have money are trying to make themselves happy with more, going deeper into a downward spiral of greed. The rest of us don't have time for spirituality because we're spending all of our time trying to survive.

I feel like this is a big part of our problem. All this suffering, all this spiritual deadness, it created a situation where young people are growing up miserable and empty. And so they try to fill themselves with something, but what is there that's actually positive and fulfilling? Things don't work. Community does, but what community is available in a country that has been build on isolationism and a fetish for "individual responsibility"? We've separated ourselves in our box houses. We don't know our neighbors' names. For so many, the only community available are these awful Christian churches that are utterly and completely devoid of real spirituality. I know. I've been to them. It's all performative and based on the same weird fatalistic ideas. If you're unhappy, it's because you're a bad Christian, and you therefore deserve it. It's all fake, it's all judgemental, it's all dead.

Many young people turn to online communities. And what better community than the one that tells you you're better than others? There's nothing like the false comfort of believing that you're special and superior to others. That you have some kind of special understanding of the world. That you're somehow more "logical" than others. Sound familiar? It should.

We desperately need communities based on understanding, kindness, compassion, and humility. We need a new moral/spiritual movement. I personally believe that spiritual health is a thing, and it does not need to be centered on or involve a religion. I believe music is spiritual. Nature is spiritual. Self-discovery is spiritual. Reading a good book on a park bench is spiritual. Long personal talks with friends is spiritual. Anything that makes you feel more connected to others, to nature, and/or gives you a deeper understanding of yourself is spiritual. It's the opposite of these nazi "communities" that are about judging others and shunning others and attacking and killing others. It's the opposite of this perversion of Christianity that is all about pretending you're better than others and taking more for yourself at the expense of others.

It's the opposite of convincing yourself that the homeless deserve to die in the streets because they must have brought it on themselves, and making bad financial decisions should apparently carry the death penalty. Fleeing from your home country to survive even though you're technically breaking the law by coming into another country without a permit that can take decades to obtain should be punished by exile that will likely end in your death.

How dead inside do you have to be to put your energy into convincing yourself that all these people must deserve their suffering? But there are literally millions of people in this country who think that way.

I have no idea how to start such a thing, but maybe if we can have a moral/spiritual revolution, we can save so many young people growing up into this dead world. Maybe they can find joy and meaning through compassion and understanding, through helping people rather than convincing themselves that they don't need to help because the poor and desperate deserve to suffer and die.

The latter will not fill you up. It only deepens the emptiness. I myself have at least tried feeling superior to others. In the long run, it doesn't feel good. What does feel good is humility. And compassion, and doing good. Caring for myself in ways that matter - with self-examination and therapy and treating my body with love.

We can be alive again, America.

Stop making me cry, internet.

This Has Not Been in the News Enough

I've seen it on Facebook and Tumblr but honestly I don't think people are giving this enough attention or generally raging enough about it, so allow me.

Roy Moore accuser's house destroyed in fire, under investigation for arson

Moore accuser Tina Johnson of Gadsden lost her home Wednesday in a fire that's under investigation by arson specialists in Etowah County, Ala.
A statement from the sheriff's office says authorities are speaking to a person of interest about the fire. The statement says investigators don't believe the fire is linked to Moore or the allegations against him.

Investigators can eat my entire ass.

This isn't the first time a survivor who came forward has had her home burned down in retaliation. This is why people accusing survivors of lying for attention or some other imaginary benefit make me livid beyond belief. Because survivors who come forward routinely lose everything for daring to stand up to rape culture. So.

Thanks I Hate It

Will Democrats ever stop shitting on mentally ill people for their silly little gimmicks? I'm already tired of the dead-on-arrival for-shits-and-giggles bills in general but these "ha ha ha Trump is mentally ill just like all terrible people and therefore shouldn't be allowed to so anything" bills need to STOP.

‘Stable Genius Act,’ would require presidential candidates to have mental health exam

Seriously. Enough.

I love how "when they go low, we go high" only applies to useful actions like obstructing the shit out of a fascist wannabe dictator and calling them what they are, like white supremacists and neo-nazis, but doesn't apply to shitting all over oppressed communities.

Donald Trump is not mentally ill or disabled, and if he were, that wouldn't be what makes him an evil piece of shit. That's his character and massive privilege.

This bill will not pass, but if it somehow had a chance of passing, I would never want it to work. For the sake of fuck, part of the bill title, in its super duper clever acronym (sarcasm), is "standardized testing." Remind me, are Democrats generally unaware of how terrible and shitty standardized testing is? It does sound like a neoliberal thing. But this type of testing is designed to leave people out. Marginalized people.

So fuck you, Brendan.
