Gif of the Day

I don't know why this gif is doing the weird blue thing but I hope you all had a happy Pride Month!

Holy Fuck Damn, NRA

The NRA has always been racist garbage, and confirmed that yet again by being silent about the murder of Philando Castile, legal gun owner shot by police directly after informing the officer that he legally possessed a gun and repeating that he was NOT reaching for it.

But apparently they decide to just go ahead and do a cannonball into the fascist pool.

God damn, NRA, tone it down a little, shit. This type of white supremacist rhetoric is usually reserved for the sewers of the Internet. But these days, of course, it's getting more and more acceptable for it to come out into the open.

Deray is right. This is an open call for right-wing racists to take up their guns and kill people, just like they've been doing. Mostly to Muslim and black people. It's an open threat to anyone who stands against fascism and white supremacy. And of course, it's full of shit. Starting with "use their media to assassinate 'real news.'" Assassinate news? What the fuck? But going out to kill black people explicitly because they're black isn't assassination to them I bet lmao.

I've really just never heard an ad so explicitly white supremacist. "Protect OUR country." From "the resistance," which is just some toothless crap that liberals came up with and is no actual threat to them, like, holy shit.

Somebody make a video where this is played alongside Hitler speeches, please. Because it will be great/horrible.

Things White Supremacists Say

Found this today on Tumblr:

[Image description: Comment by tec63298 saying "The globalists are using cats to depopulate whites. Because cats act as surrogate babies they cause white women to not want to have kids. Cats are like a parasite that sucks the maternal instinct from white women."]

Quick note, "the globalists" is a class anti-semitic dogwhistle, so you know "whites" don't include Jewish people to this person.

As for the topic of cats sucking the will to reproduce out of white women, I mean, no, but if there's any chance at all that it's true, more cats for all my fellow white ladies.

Was this dog raised by cats?

Despite this being a feminist blog mostly, I haven't focused a lot on how the rise of the extremist right and the rise of fascism will affect women. Mostly because the direct, immediate, and deadly attacks have been more on Muslims and people of color than women. White supremacists are focused mostly on racist, Islamophobic, and anti-semitic shit, though it's no secret that their vision for the white utopia includes women in a subservient position to men.

Today, however, I came upon an article about another subset of the right that needs to be discussed.

The Real Housewives of Gilead

I guess Gilead is something from the Handmaid's Tale? I don't know, I'm afraid to watch it.

The article is about a group of extreme religious conservatives who want to take us back to Puritan America, only I'm pretty sure even the Puritans weren't this horrifying.

These women want a future where not only is abortion illegal under all circumstances, so are all forms of birth control for women, other than the rhythm method. They pine for a godly America where homosexual acts are a felony and where LGBT leaders and abortion providers are arrested. Attendance of (Christian) religious services would be mandatory. Supportive parents of LGBT youth would lose custody of their children and be prosecuted for child abuse.
Her husband is even more radical. He opposed all abortions, and is leading a crusade to convince people to try to carry ectopic pregnancies (the number 1 cause of maternal mortality in the developing world) to term, based on an anecdote in a journal article from 1994, which was later proved to be completely falsified.  He recommends executing everyone on death row immediately, and making homosexuality, immigration violations, and providing abortions (or aiding those who do) a capital crime. The sentence under a Patrick Johnston administration would be carried out immediately via biblical methods like stoning or crucifixion. Other lesser crimes, like breast-feeding in public, would be punishable with public flogging.

Uhhhmmmm can we execute him immediately? Because he's gonna kill someone.

The list of horrifying beliefs goes on and on. And this article doesn't give you comfort by letting you believe that this is a fringe group, oh no.

It would be easy to dismiss these statements as nothing more than fringe elements. Except they’re not. They come from, respectively, one of the most popular Christian bloggers on Facebook, a female elected official in a state House, and top women at the Family Research Council. The FRC is a multimillion-dollar anti-LGBT hate group with an expensive office on G Street in downtown Washington, D.C., and was well represented on the Trump transition team.

At least there's probably less of a chance that this horrifying misogynistic, homophobic, and transphobic vision will never become reality than the white supremacist's vision for America, but who even knows these days? I'm telling you though, if they make birth control illegal, that's it, I'm out of here. I'll help as many people get out as I can but I'm not going without my BC pills.

Just How Little Are Republicans Even Trying Anymore?

Two fantastic headlines today:

Fox News host argues stripping coverage from millions is no biggie since ‘we’re all going to die’

What kind of nihilistic capitalism shit is this? "Ah we're all doomed to oblivion anyway, might as well funnel all the money to a few people. What does it matter if they die sooner and in unnecessary and maybe horrific pain? It's all the same in the end."

As hilariously absurd as this is, it's also, of course, enraging. The Fox News pundit who spouted this bullshit was doing so among sarcasm and an attitude so callous I think they might want to try throwing some holy water on her, just to see what happens.

“You know what, at least they are not employing any hyperbole at all. No exaggeration, no hysteria,” she said. “You know what the crazy thing is? We’re all going to die. And they can’t predict — there’s no way unless they are absolutely psychic and have a party line to heaven, they don’t know who’s going to die or when or how many people.”

No, you can't predict exactly how many people will be murdered by Trumpcare, but you can make an estimate based on scientific studies into medicaid, and you can also repeat those exact numbers, which is actually not hyperbole at all. No sarcasm.

This latest Fox News bullshit is in response to tweets like these:

And it's true, it's absolutely not overly dramatic. It's fact. We don't know exactly how many thousands will die. Only time will tell! But it will be thousands, and that is a huge body count. I personally have one friend who could die without health coverage. But those thousands don't matter to rich people like the ones creating the bill or this Lisa Kennedy Montgomery. They'll be fine up in their ivory towers while the rest of us either die or live in fear of dying or drown in medical debt or live in fear of that. Like the Think Progress article says, a study of Medicaid found that one life is saved by Medicaid coverage for every 239 to 316 adults enrolled. 65 million people are on Medicaid right now. If 23 million people lose coverage due to Trumpcare, then, well, you do the math.

Or just read the CBO report, which found this:

  • Assuming that 15 million fewer people would have coverage in 2026, we estimate that the coverage losses from the Senate bill would result in 18,100 additional deaths in 2026.
  • Assuming that 19 million fewer people would have coverage, we estimate that the coverage losses from the Senate bill would result in 22,900 additional deaths in 2026.
  • Assuming that 23 million fewer people would have coverage, we estimate that the coverage losses from the Senate bill would result in 27,700 additional deaths in 2026. If coverage losses from the Senate bill matched those from the House bill, it would result in 217,000 additional deaths over the next decade.

Can we pile those bodies onto the front lawns of every Congressperson and Senator who supports Trumpcare? Asking for a friend.

The fuckery going on with Trumpcare makes this next headline all the better:

Facebook's Awfulness is On Purpose

I wanted to believe that Facebook's shittiness was because they just didn't want to spend money to actually hire people to adequately review reported posts and the reason horrifically racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, and islamophobic posts go unchallenged while I got suspended for three days for calling a white guy a cracker is because, in spite of what bigots like to claim, they and their privileged pals are the ones constantly reporting anything they don't like while people like me often just block it. And the lack of human power going into the process is part of the problem. But.

Turns out it's so much worse that that.

A trove of internal documents reviewed by ProPublica sheds new light on the secret guidelines that Facebook’s censors use to distinguish between hate speech and legitimate political expression. The documents reveal the rationale behind seemingly inconsistent decisions. For instance, Higgins’ incitement to violence passed muster because it targeted a specific sub-group of Muslims — those that are “radicalized” — while Delgado’s post was deleted for attacking whites in general.

The post by Higgins was this:

Yeah, that's still up.

It doesn't matter that this kind of language incites violence against all Muslims or anyone who might be mistaken for a Muslim. Not to Facebook. As long as you're not technically, outright saying ALL Muslims should die, you're fine.

That explains a lot.

Check out this part of a "quiz" given to Facebook employees:

Apparently, "female drivers" aren't protected because while gender is a protected category, "drivers" are not. "Men" and "white people" are protected because one is a gender and one is a race. But, on Facebook, apparently, children are not protected.

Perhaps the only company on Earth that will train their staff on that principle.

This is color-blindness on steroids. Facebook seeks to protect all groups equally despite the fact that groups are unequally threatened. It's the old giving the same amount of water to someone whose glass is empty as someone whose glass is full thing. Except the person who gets wet is somehow always the person with less.

And it gets worse yet.

The challenge of policing political expression is even more complex. The documents reviewed by ProPublica indicate, for example, that Donald Trump’s posts about his campaign proposal to ban Muslim immigration to the United States violated the company’s written policies against “calls for exclusion” of a protected group. As The Wall Street Journal reported last year, Facebook exempted Trump’s statements from its policies at the order of Mark Zuckerberg, the company’s founder and chief executive.

It's a long article, going into the history of the policing policies of popular sites and services. I haven't read it all yet. It might get worse, and I'm tired. At this point I need to decide whether I want to delete my Facebook account or just spend my time reporting everything and complaining about every ad I see on that shit site to overload their shit system.

Fuck you, Facebook.

Gif of the Day

For some reason when I watch this I hear "and IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII WILL ALWAYS LOVE YYYOOOOOOUUUUUUU" as soon as she starts her roundhouse kick. I think because I love this woman.

Black Girls Have Their Childhood Stolen

We have enough of a problem in this society with people not treating children like children. Kids are often expected to behave as adults, which completely unreasonable because they do not have adult brains. Forcing kids to grow up fast because adults refuse to try and remember what it's like to be a kid is incredibly damaging to them.

And as per usual, black kids have it worse.

Black Girls Are Viewed as Less Innocent and More Adultlike Than White Girls: Study

This goes beyond just treating kids like adults.

The study found that survey participants believe that black girls need less nurturing, need less protection, need to be supported and comforted less, are more independent, know more about adult topics and know more about sex. These results have far-reaching implications and can be a contributing factor to the disproportionate rates of punitive treatment in the education and juvenile-justice systems for black girls.
As an example, in the education system, black girls may receive harsher punishment by educators and school resource officers, and being perceived as not needing nurturing, protection and support means that black girls may lose out on leadership and mentorship opportunities in school.

This is so disgusting. And heartbreaking. All the things listed - nurturing, protection, support, comfort - are the things that young children need most. The younger they are, the more they need it, and the more they're psychologically damaged if they don't get it. They may be fine being raised by their parents (though if one of their parents is white, that honestly could still cause problems), but once they enter the education system at about age FIVE, fuck. And these days, people are starting their kids in school, in pre-school, in pre-pre-school, younger and younger to try and give them a leg up in an increasingly harsh and competitive world (as the rich hoard more and more resources). Putting the expectation on these girls that they act like adults or are more like adults than other kids is stealing their childhood from them, and that's fucking terrible.

I kind of wish I had gone into education or childcare so I could try to give black girls as much attention as possible. I should really look into mentorship programs, particularly for young writers. Or maybe it's better for me to pay for a black person to mentor a black child. If that's a thing.

We white people need need NEED to think about how we interact with children of color. Even if it's just in passing in a grocery store. One thing I do is try to be polite to children, especially children of color, by saying "excuse me" and "thank you" if I'm trying to get past them or I'm in their way. Treat them like they're human, smile, be sweet to them. They deserve it.

CNN, Please Stop Killing the Free Press

Sometimes I'm seriously like "is CNN secretly owned by Trump or someone associated with him to make news media that isn't 100% right-wing propaganda look bad?" Because A) that's the kind of reality we live in now, so fucked up that I have to consider conspiracies like that and B) because CNN is this kind of shit:

Three CNN journalists resign over retracted Trump-Russia story

Apparently, CNN ran a story based on an allegation by an anonymous source, and then retracted it because they decided it wasn't credible. This happens all. the. time in journalism because sources aren't always reliable but when the story looks really good, you want to run it. CNN only said that the story didn't "meet its editorial standards" so I'm left wondering, if this had been about someone less powerful, would they have ever retracted it? I doubt it.

But even if the story was bullshit, they retracted it like news outlets are supposed to do. Why in the hell did three people need to resign over it?

The swift investigation and departure of the three journalists is interpreted as a sign that CNN wants to protect itself against allegations of “fake news” from Trump and his supporters.

Seriously, guys? I don't know how much of that was pressure from CNN but either way, you're playing right into Trump's game. Don't do that! Do not. Do that. Trump is going to call you "fake news" no matter what. And even if you're perfect so that there's no evidence to support that nonsense, he and his followers will make shit up. They'll invent whatever they have to in order to support the narrative they've committed to in their minds. Why in the fuck are you playing by the made-up rules of someone who hates you for getting in his way by telling the truth rather than licking his asshole? Nobody resigns over one story being retracted. It wasn't even untrue, they just decided it didn't have enough support.

The site added that, although the investigation found the story “wasn’t solid enough” for publication, CNN has not said the story is false.

Come on, CNN. I know you're all about the money but if you keep playing his game, you'll be out of business, as well as damaging our ability to keep the press free and functional. Stop being such fucking cowards. Stop giving them ammo. Stop shooting yourselves in the foot! Be more like this guy:

Reporter snaps at Sarah Huckabee Sanders after she goes on lengthy rant bashing the press

"News outlets get to go on day after day and cite unnamed sources, use stories without sources," Sanders said. "You mentioned the [CNN] story, where they had to have reporters resign."
Brian Karem, a reporter for the Sentinel newspapers — a Washington, DC-area chain — then jumped in to voice his displeasure with the rant.
"You're inflaming everybody right here, right now, with those words," he said, pointing out that the administration has also gotten facts wrong in the past.
"Any one of us, right, are replaceable, and any one of us if we don't get it right, the audience has the opportunity to turn the channel or not read us," he continued. "You have been elected to serve for four years at least."
Karem said the press was present to "ask you questions" and that Sanders was there "to provide the answers."

I recommend watching the video, because Sanders' ashamed face is priceless.

But seriously. By not standing up to fascist anti-press bullshit, you're hurting journalism as a whole. Stop. Playing. His. Game. Before you doom us all.

Gif of the Day

This is the best blep I've ever seen.

Story Resurfaces Because Dudes Said It's True

Why in the god damn hell is this story back in the news? Because some dudes are confirming it's true instead of just a woman (backed up by all the money given to her) so now it's believable, right???

Former manager: Johnny Depp “violently kicked” ex-wife Amber Heard

But news outlets can't let Amber Heard move on with her life, no. Because some men confirmed what was already so painfully obviously true, because people can't just trust a woman when she says that yet another Hollywood douchefuck abused her, so the story's gotta be dragged up from the dead.

Maybe I should be slamming Salon and others here. Maybe they feel like they're back up Amber Heard because somehow (misogyny) there are still a fuck load of people who don't believe her. Even though Johnny Depp basically admitted it. Those are probably the same people who freaked the fuck out when Depp suggested that an actor assassinate Lord Dampnut, kinda, jokingly. Yeah let's hate him for that, not for being an incredibly violent serial abuser of women. He actually apologized for the assassination remark.

Apologize for being an abuser, Depp. Then apologize for The Lone Ranger.

The Travel Ban's Back. Again.

I don't know why I haven't been hearing about this more. Maybe everyone's just too depressed to deal? I don't blame them.

Supreme Court allows parts of travel ban to take effect

Hey, remember when President Obama nominated a Supreme Court justice and Republicans refused to allow a vote on him, letting the empty seat stay vacant for many months so that their next candidate could nominate someone super fucking conservative instead? What I'm saying is that this country is garbage and Republicans are evil.

This is what it means:

The court is allowing the ban to go into effect for foreign nationals who lack any "bona fide relationship with any person or entity in the United States." The court, in an unsigned opinion, left the travel ban against citizens of six majority-Muslim on hold as applied to non-citizens with relationships with persons or entities in the United States, which includes most of the plaintiffs in both cases.
Examples of formal relationships include students accepted to US universities and an employee who has accepted a job with a company in the US, the court said.

That leaves out a lot of people. Bye bye, tourism industry! And fuck you, refugees!

I didn't think the SCOTUS would let this fly but this country continues to disappoint!

As for refugees, the court held that a person seeking refuge in the US can claim "concrete hardship" -- but in the end, if they "lack any such connection to the United States ... the balance tips in favor of the government's compelling need to provide for the Nation's security."

As though refugees don't already have to prove that?? That's what refugees are. They're fleeing their homes due to hardship that is never not concrete. Is concrete getting blown to pieces by U.S. bombs not concrete enough for you??

National security. What a fucking joke. Refugees don't commit terrorist attacks. Angry entitled white nationals do. But whatever, post-fact society, *circus music*.

Gif of the Day

In happier news, I went to Pride for the first time yesterday and I saw so many cute baby pans and so much happiness and color. The only downer was a few of my fellow white queers whining about a thirty-minute delay of the parade to honor Charleena Lyles. I get that it was hot but she was murdered so show some respect.

Nothing's Changed

You know what tends to cause my biggest dips into depression? The feeling that nothing changes and nothing gets better. It's despair. And so it's no surprise to me that I've been more depressed lately, or that depression rates are up in general, especially among people my age and younger.

I didn't pay any attention to politics at all until the election of the year 2000, when I was 12. I was old enough by that point to recognize that people were anxious about this election, that the results caused a large upset, and to understand why. I still didn't think much of it, but I thought it seemed unfair that one court in Florida suddenly changed the result and thought it odd that this wasn't challenged and Bush was just made President even though Al Gore got more votes.

From there, the world seemed to get worse. The 90's were so positive, and it seemed like anything and everything was possible for me and humanity. Then 9/11 happened, and I was confused and angry to see protesters caged like animals in "free speech zones" that clashed with my understanding of what was supposed to be a very important Amendment. We went to war, and they told us we'd won but our troops stayed, and people kept dying. As I got older, I got angrier. As a young liberal, it seemed like things were steadily getting worse. And I didn't know the half of it.

And then, hope! President Barack Obama was elected, and things were supposed to get better. But they didn't. The recession hit hard, right before I graduated from college. Stonewalling by Republicans kept Obama from fulfilling many of his promises or getting much of anything done at all. Constant threats of government shutdown made things worse. Obamacare became Romneycare, and Republicans, bizarrely, still hated it. Things stopped making sense. The war went on and on and on, and even as some troops were withdrawn from Iraq and Afghanistan, many stayed, and we went on to bomb Libya, Pakistan, Somalia, Syria, and Yemen. The War on Terror was never meant to end. Endless war is now our reality. Drone strike use increased. An endless barrage of photos of dead children, weeping parents, refugees.

Now, Trump. Again, things were supposed to get better. Hillary was supposed to get elected and as neoliberal as she is, it was supposed to make the Republican party collapse. Instead, Trump. Things got worse, much worse. Republicans took the House and Senate, and we have to fight desperately against attacks on our basic rights. On Tumblr, every day I see people begging for money for food, shelter, and desperately needed healthcare. We crowdsource for life-saving treatment. We give away what little we can spare and we know retirement isn't for us. The future has been bleak since 2000, 17 years ago, and it hasn't gotten better.

Almost three years ago now, Gamergate happened. This morning, Feminist Frequency, Anita Sarkeesian's website, posted about a man and his followers coming to Vidcon to sit in the front row at a panel she was featured in. This man has been harassing her, making YouTube videos attacking her, and his followers have been mobbing her every post for years. YEARS. Three years ago, I defended Anita from "trolls" as they were called. I argued against countless asinine arguments about her being a fraud, not a gamer, a scam artist, a liar, making herself into a victim for money, and wrong about every single thing she argued no matter how plain the reality she spoke of was to me. It got old fast, because they never relented. Nothing I said was good enough to convince them to listen, or at least leave her alone. And the same tired arguments came again and again.

It's been three years. Over three years since Anita became a target for hateful misogynists, and yes that includes the women who buy into hateful misogynistic rhetoric. And this morning, I relived that time by arguing with her harassers yet again. And nothing has changed. The same arguments are made. The same amount of people flood her every post on Facebook, Twitter, and wherever else her name appears or is associated. They say the same things about her. They still say Tropes vs. Women was a scam despite it being finished and generally well-like by the people who actually funded it. They still claim that she's not a gamer despite her spending three years researching and talking about video games. They still claim she's not harassed as they pile on to every post she makes, STILL, after three years.

And what's more, things haven't gotten better for women in video games. Not much, not where it counts. There may be a few more AAA games starring women, a few more female characters in games like Overwatch, but with every game that comes out that does a little better for women, the backlash is intense. And now, as I play Overwatch, not a single voice that I can confidently label as being "feminine" can be heard over voice chat. I've been playing for several weeks now, and not one. And when I bring that up on Tumblr, the horror stories about harassment from male Overwatch players roll in.

Even on this bright, often cutesy shooter that almost has the same number of female characters as male, the women are forced into silence. Nothing's changed.

I'm not saying it's hopeless, but it is a significant bummer. And evidence that it's going to take far more than some corporate gestures to change the culture of misogyny in the gaming community and at large. Obviously, in a lot of ways, things are worse. The stark misogyny of the 2016 election proved that. The existence of President Trump proved that. Bigotry is on the rise and fascism is getting popular again after being demonized for many decades.

So I guess, if you're confused about the high rates of depression among Millennials, don't be. Because for us, hope has been false, and everything has gotten worse over the years, with few exceptions.

Gif of the Day

Something Nice

I don't know about you but damn the horror is just nonstop lately. I finally scheduled myself a real week off on the second week of July just so I can recover mentally and spiritually from all the shit. For real, I'm thinking of doing a lot of meditation and starting some kind of morning prayer ritual to help me get through all this shit. It seems to help my partner and lately the SSRIs aren't enough to keep back the depression.

Anyway, this made me happy this morning and I hope it also makes you happy:

Such tiny floof. The tiniest floof boofs. How do you even function being that stubby.

"What Rape Culture?"

In other news about narratives that repeat themselves over and over and over without anyone learning anything or any change happening, a woman was harassed by her community and local "justice" department until she committed suicide because she reported a powerful white man who raped her.

How Accusing A Powerful Man of Rape Drove A College Student To Suicide

The victim was clearly drugged, as she blacked out after an amount of beer that she said would normally have not caused her to even get drunk. She doesn't even remember how she ended up in the rapist's car. He brought her to his room and prevented her from leaving when she told him she had to leave to rejoin her friends and did not consent to sex.

“I said, I really need to go, I have friends that are waiting,” she told police when they first interviewed her at the hospital. “He didn’t really take that.” Eventually, Megan said, she “felt like just letting him have sex with me was the only way he would let me go.”

This is rape by coercion. But Alabama's archaic rape laws don't recognize that as rape.

Under Alabama’s archaic rape law, victims must prove they “earnestly” resisted their attackers, and the investigator who interviewed Megan quickly decided she hadn’t fought back against Bunn — she hadn’t “kicked him or hit him," he explained. His investigation would conclude that no rape occurred.

An officer's hands might be tied by state law, but what he did next is horrific beyond all reason. First he pressured her to drop the charges by basically telling her that she wasn't raped until she was emotionally exhausted.

Eventually, Jones returned to Megan’s rape allegations. “Based on your statements to me, you said that you never resisted him,” he said.
“I did resist him,” Megan said, listing the ways she did, from repeatedly telling Bunn she wanted to leave to turning away when he kissed her. “I wanted to go home,” she said. “He didn’t take me home.”
“Look at it from my side,” Jones replied calmly. “You never kicked him or hit him or tried to resist him.”
A few minutes later, Megan said she didn’t know if she wanted to press charges after all.
“I want to be done,” she said. “I just want to move on.”

Real easy to be calm as a man who will very likely never experience rape. Piece of shit.

Actually, before this, Jones started questioning the victim about why she did what she did in order to escape after T.J. Bunn Jr. raped her.

Megan told police that, in a panic, she climbed through Bunn’s second-story window, jumped onto a gate and then to the dark, unfamiliar street below. When she realized she didn’t have her keys, she started frantically searching for them, even climbing back into Bunn’s room and then out again. Next, she checked Bunn’s Mercedes, where she found his wallet and a pistol. She grabbed $3 in case she had to take a cab and the gun “for safety,” she told investigators. Megan didn’t know how to handle guns, she’d later explain, and she accidentally fired it before dropping the weapon to the ground. Finally, a friend picked her up. They arrived at Tuscaloosa’s DCH Regional Medical Center around 2:40 a.m.

For this, Officer Jones decided to pursue charges AGAINST HER, the victim. Her behavior, to him, wasn't an indication that she had just undergone a horrific trauma that causes erratic behavior and panic. It made her a criminal. Because she broke into her rapist's car and took her rapist's gun to protect herself from further assault and took a measly $3 that the rapist never would have missed while living in his fucking castle.

Of course, officers treated the rapist as though he was half child half king of the world.

“This is something...I’m gonna ask the’s gotta be asked,” Hastings said, fumbling a bit. When police arrived at Bunn’s house early Thursday morning, how come Bunn said no one had been at his house the night before?
“At that time, to be honest with you, I didn’t recall,” Bunn said.
“Scared?” Hastings asked.
“Of course, yeah, sure,” Bunn said. “Still scared.”
“You ended up collecting your thoughts, and coming around, and that’s when you remembered you had her over there?” Hastings said.
“Right,” Bunn said.

The cop is fucking guiding the rapist to the right words in order to explain away his lies after the victim was grilled by the police and treated like a criminal and pressured to drop charges.

Then the rapist uses the trumped-up charges against his victim to intimidate her into dropping her case.

When Hastings left the room for a moment, Bunn told his lawyer in a whisper that he’d drop the charges against Megan if she dropped hers.
“I won’t pursue her if she doesn’t pursue me, but I will play hardball if she does,” he said.

World, meet rape culture. A white man and the son of a powerful white man has his asshole licked by police while the victim is treated like shit until she drops the charges.

But she didn't. This brave woman filed a civil suit after the district attorney told her there wouldn't even be a grand jury hearing because her case didn't fit the "legal definition" of sexual assault. During this time, she was diagnosed with PTSD and struggling in school due to constant anxiety and fear. Her therapist then dropped her because she was apparently a friend of the Bunns. Then things got even worse.

But although Megan and her family were told her criminal case wouldn’t move forward, the district attorney’s office eventually decided to present it to a grand jury after all. There was a catch. In a package deal, the grand jury would also rule on felony charges against Megan for breaking into Bunn’s car and stealing his gun. Internal documents from September 2015 imply authorities didn’t intend to fight too hard on Megan’s behalf: Investigators noted they found “no sexual assault occurred.”

"Justice system" my ass. The defense and police are supposed to do everything they can to get justice. Unless it's a woman accusing a powerful white man of rape, of course.

After that, the victim dropped her civil suit, withdrew from school, and moved home to Texas. That is where she killed herself, just after filling out intake forms for a mental hospital repeating over and over that she was "better off dead" and that she had been raped and bullied by the police.

According to these police, they are blameless in this death, because they were following Alabama law.

The authorities weren’t just required to follow Alabama rape law, Hood said — they were “legally obligated” to investigate the felonies Megan admitted to committing during her interview. Her mental state at the time didn’t matter. Nor, apparently, did the fact that she soon after went to the hospital and told her story to police.
“Although she did not ‘realize’ she committed a crime does not negate the fact that she ‘did’ commit the crimes,” Hood said.

How many times have we heard men excused for their sexual crimes because they "didn't know" that what they were doing was rape? Ignorance of the law is no excuse... unless you're a rapist.

And for the final injustice, the rapist, his family and friends, and the police who investigated her case will all go on thinking that they must have done right, that the victim wasn't raped even though the event caused her distress to the point that she killed herself. And I'm sure police conduct around her case had nothing to do with that either, right, pigs? I wish I could hope that it eats them up inside and they can't sleep at night, but I know it won't, and I know they'll sleep soundly. Because they don't care about women, they don't care about rape victims, and in fact unless they keep their mouths shut they're better off dead, yeah?

This is rape culture, and this is why I fight it.

I was beginning to have some hope for the Charleena Lyles case (read: murder) when I heard that an SPD sergeant or whatever had called the shooting unacceptable and that there was going to be a hearing by the city council on the incident (read: murder). And now THIS.

Seattle Police Flack Talks About the Charleena Lyles Shooting While Playing Video Games

We see Whitcomb control an avatar through a fantasy world, jumping around a space shuttle and running by electrical orbs, while discussing a tragedy that left four children without a mother. Whitcomb recounts the day of Lyles' death in detail, from the radio call in which officers can be heard talking about her mental health, to the fatal shots that went off with her children in the room. At the same time, we see a man running around in a cape, with a gun slung on his back. To be fair to Whitcomb, he doesn't engage in any combat in this particular episode of the game, mostly just running around the virtual world.
During a phone call two days ago, Whitcomb told me that the death of Lyles is one of the worst moments in the department's history. "Dude, we are suffering," he said. "This mom with little kids, that is going to tear apart your soul."

It's bad enough that the SPD has a fucking Twitch channel at all, called "Fuzzfeed206" (ugh), because this is obviously a way to try and reach young people by appearing "hip" and convince them that the police is on their side and try to get them to join. The military has been doing the same thing with video games for decades.

But to use your Twitch channel, playing a SHOOTER, to talk about your police murdering a pregnant mother of four? And you dare to say that YOU are the ones suffering?

Black people are suffering. Black women are suffering. Carleena's family is suffering. Charleena's children are suffering. Charleena's neighbors are suffering. I read a Facebook post yesterday asking people not to come around the memorial at the apartment complex where she was murdered because the children who live there are asking if their mothers are next. They are suffering. You are a bunch of murderous pieces of shit and if you really cared you'd quit the force and quite police work altogether but you don't care about anyone but yourself and your fellow murderous cops.

Fuck you, Seattle police. All of you.

I'm old.

Cops Drag Disabled Protesters Out of Mitch's Office

In other "cops are shit" news:

WATCH: Capitol Police Drag Disabled Protesters Out Of McConnell's Office

Senate Republicans have finally released a version of their healthcare bill. It was written in complete secrecy by 13 Senators, all of them wealthy. Of course, it's devastating to the 75 million Americans on Medicaid, does away with preexisting conditions, and is a boondoggle to the rich.
MSNBC Live cut to show footage of protesters being removed by the Capitol police at Speaker Mitch McConnell's office. Co-hosts Ali Velshi and Stephanie Ruhle commented on the destructive aspects of the secret Senate bill that was just released.
The protesters were chanting, "No cuts to Medicaid!," as they were being pulled out of the hallway.

First of all, these protesters are awesome. Second of all, Mitch McConnell is the devil, and shame on those cops for obeying orders to drag disabled people away when they're fighting for their lives. Many of these people literally rely on Medicaid to survive and WILL DIE from the cuts proposed by Trumpcare.

Also, the Senate version is still horrifying. In fact, the cuts to Medicaid in this bill are even deeper than the ones in the House version. It still eliminates any Planned Parenthood funding and slashes mental health care funding. If we can't stop this, so many people will die.

If they pass this, I actually hope more of them get shot.

Protesters Arrested on Inauguration Day Need Justice

Protesters who were arrested in D.C. during the crowning of Lord Dampnut are still facing felony charges, despite many of them having committed no crime at all. Groups of protesters were rounded up that day for being near antifa and anarchist activists who committed the devastating crime (sarcasm) of breaking some shit companies' windows and maybe knocking a trash can over. They were mass arrested and left in cells over night. Many reported being left without food or water in those cells. Others report much worse.

D.C. cops used ‘rape as punishment’ after Inauguration Day mass arrests, lawsuit says

An officer ordered Horse, fellow plaintiff Milo Gonzalez, and three others to take their pants off before grabbing their testicles and then inserting a finger into their anuses while “other officers laughed,” the complaint alleges. Horse is a photojournalist, one of six reporters initially arrested and charged whose cases have been dismissed.
“I felt like they were using molestation and rape as punishment. They used those tactics to inflict pain and misery on people who are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty,” Horse said. “It felt like they were trying to break me and the others — break us so that even if the charges didn’t stick, that night would be our punishment.”

This is fucking sick. This is what police culture gets you. People either become cops because they're heartless monsters who want the freedom to abuse and murder people without consequences or they become those heartless monsters after they become cops. And fascism makes the problem infinitely worse. Anti-protester sentiment helped those cops rape these men. If there were any justice, the cops would be thrown in jail themselves, for life. But that won't happen.

The vast majority of people arrested that day are still facing bogus, guilt-by-proximity felony charges. As though felony charges for "property damage" weren't bogus enough. This is 100% an intimidation tactic. Protest and we'll ruin your life. Protest in a way that actually at all threatens us and we'll definitely ruin your life and the lives of anybody around you. And maybe we'll rape you in the process.

This is fascism. This is fascism and disgusting to a point that it makes me not want to live anymore.

I laughed so hard.

The Moral Horror of the Senate Trumpcare Situation

I need to stop and talk for a second about just how fucked up it is that the Senate Republicans are trying to jam through their shit version of Trumpcare without even letting the public see it. These are supposed to be our representatives, but they won't even let us see the bill because they know that we, the people, will hate it. And we'll come out against it just like we did with the House bill, only that will make it so much harder for the Senate bill to pass because they don't have the same majority in the Senate.

But just. This is a huge bill that will affect everybody, cause some 25 million people to lose their health insurance, and is a death sentence for some of those people. I personally know people who will go bankrupt and/or die if Obamacare is taken from them. And I can't save them. I don't have tens of thousands of dollars or more sitting around. All I can do is sit around and wonder how in the fuck did we get here?

This massive of a bill, a bill determining our access to healthcare, and they won't let us see it. They're only going to give the Democrats 10 hours to review it. Because they know it's going to fuck us all over. And they don't care. They don't care about even pretending to give a fuck about us anymore. They're over there working to fuck us over as fast as possible. They want to write up this bill that might as well be called "Fuck Over the Poors and Give Ourselves All the Money and Power" behind closed doors and they're going to try and cram it through before we can even gather up our defenses to try and stop them.

They're fucking evil. They're villains. They know what they're doing is wrong and they're doing it anyway. They know people will die and they're killing us anyway. They know we don't want this and they're imposing it upon us anyway. These are not our representatives. They don't represent us. They've stopped even pretending. Isn't this supposed to be that tyranny thing that people were freaking out about over the eight years of the Obama presidency? But instead of trying to give us affordable healthcare they're taking it away. All to give the rich billions in tax cuts.

Why are we letting them do this to us? Why are we letting them get away with this? Why are we letting these evil people rule us?

The loop on this is so impressive.

So Like 50 Terrible Things Have Happened

Over the past week and I can't even deal.

79 people died in an apartment building fire in London because the people living in it were poor so everybody ignored all the complaints and warnings that the building was unsafe.

Philando Castile's murderer was acquitted, proving that even direct video evidence of a straight up murder for no reason by a cop isn't enough to get him convicted of anything.

Bill Cosby's trial ended in a deadlocked jury and mistrial. I guess the prosecution is going to keep pursuing it and hopefully this will give them more time but I fucking hate that anyone would vote him not guilty when he admitted to drugging multiple women under oath.

The wrongful death suit filed by Kendrick Johnson's family was dismissed.

A 17-year-old Muslim girl was found dead, likely beaten to death with a bat. A man has been charged with murder.

And in local news, the Seattle police murdered a pregnant mother of four who was also a mentally ill black woman after she called them for help during an attempted burglary. Once again, police kill someone who needed their help. They said she had a knife, but there were two of them, and for some reason couldn't even use a taser or just leave. She was several months pregnant and her children were home. An audio recorder was just released in which you can hear a child wailing after five gun shots are fired.

I'm so sick of this. I can barely get myself to report on all this horror. I can hardly read about it. It's so much. And I'm white! I honestly don't know how black people deal.

I'm gonna go to the Black Lives Matter march this Friday to protest this murder. Prepare to hear about an intense police presence and probably tear gas and shit, stuff that's way more than anything ever used at any other protest in Seattle. Because black people = scary, right police? Fuck you.

Happy Pride!

This is Hilarifying

Yes, that is a mix of hilarious and terrifying. I never do highlights of episodes of The Daily Show since I'm sure we all watch it and I try to go for less-covered news, but this video is so amazing that it needs to be spread everywhere.

The good part starts at about 5:30:

But at the same time, we live in a world where, within our two-party hell system, the party with no power can be like "you're not letting us have any input at all into this bill and won't even let us see it or have any information about it" and the party in power can be like "we've asked for your input into this bill we haven't let you see or have any information about lol."

Trevor Noah compares it to giving your little sibling a non-functioning video game controller to play with in a one-player game, but I think that once against this is a case of a bully taking your lunchbox, holding it up in his hand, and declaring that he doesn't have your lunchbox.

The party in power can look reality right in the face and declare that this reality doesn't exist, and they don't have to worry one bit about us coming for him with pitchforks, dragging him into the street, and pelting him with potatoes until he dies. They're so confident that they'll be fine that they don't even have to try and dress it up. They have their interns memorizing their gaslighting responses for them! And that is terrifying.

We're fucked but we can have a few laughs until the end I guess is what I'm saying. See you on the other side.

You Know What

Fuck Republicans and also fuck Democrats, fuck all of congress right now.

The reason why I'm saying this today is because of the baseball game shooting. I was going easy on them yesterday because you know what? I actually did feel a little sorry for them. I have a bit of an overload of empathy and somehow my heart isn't completely shriveled up from being fucked over constantly by these assholes.

But watching video of them yesterday saying shit like "an attack on one of us is an attack on all of us" and talk about how they're all fucking friends outside of work, Democrats and Republicans, it just makes me sick. They really are sitting up there in DC blowing each other all day while the rest of us suffer. Because when Paul Ryan says "us" he means the elite. The rich. The few people rich enough and powerful enough to decide whether the rest of us live or die.

Where is "an attack on one of us is an attack on all of us" when yet another black man is gunned down by police for having A Thing in his hand or for walking toward them or anything else they can dream up? Then it's not "an attack on one of us is an attack on all of us," it's "he shouldn't have [insert placeholder for 'existed as black' here]."

Where is "an attack on one of us is an attack on all of us" when a white man walks into a Planned Parenthood and murders people with a gun? No moving, heartfelt speech from Paul Ryan then. Just a lot of silence.

Where is "an attack on one of us is an attack on all of us" when Trump attacks the poor by trying to take away our healthcare? Oh, doesn't matter to them in that case, because we're not "one of us," are we? The rest of us outside of their circle of fuck buddies can go ahead and fucking die.

But you know what? You're right, Paul. You should ALL be on fucking edge up there in your palaces. I hope you all know that it was an attack on all of you. All Republicans trying to make it so poor people die, and all Democrats breaking bread with those murderers because they only care about appearing to care about the rest of us. You should all be scared. Because the people won't tolerate your attacks on all of us forever.

Some Good News

Here are some pieces of good news to cut through the daily hellstorm.

Transgender woman wins Democratic primary to take on GOP sponsor of Virginia 'bathroom bill'

Now that the primaries are settled, we know that more than half of this fall's Democratic challengers are women—and one woman in particular is guaranteed to get under her GOP opponent's skin in a way no other candidate could.
Democrat Danica Roem emerged from a four-way primary with a healthy victory, earning her the right to take on GOP Del. Bob Marshall in the 13th State House District this fall.
Roem is a transgender woman. Marshall happens to be most virulently anti-LGBT and right-wing lawmaker in the House of Delegates. (Sen. Dick Black [R-Plastic Fetus] contests Marshall's spot as the craziest right-winger in the entire General Assembly.)

In Victory for Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, Court Finds That Approval of Dakota Access Pipeline Violated the Law

A federal judge ruled that the federal permits authorizing the pipeline to cross the Missouri River just upstream of the Standing Rock reservation, which were hastily issued by the Trump administration just days after the inauguration, violated the law in certain critical respects.
In a 91-page decision, Judge James Boasberg wrote, “the Court agrees that [the Corps] did not adequately consider the impacts of an oil spill on fishing rights, hunting rights, or environmental justice, or the degree to which the pipeline’s effects are likely to be highly controversial.” The Court did not determine whether pipeline operations should be shut off and has requested additional briefing on the subject and a status conference next week.

That is also amazing! I'd assumed that stopping the DAPL was a lost cause. Unfortunately the thing has ALREADY LEAKED but this opens the door to shutting down the pipeline before it inevitably leaks into the tribal water source.

And the third piece of good news is that you, yes you, are fantastic and valid! Congratulations!

Healthcare is a Human Right, Libertarians

Remember when I ran into That Guy after the March for Truth in Seattle and he mansplained everything under the sun at me? One of those things was the right to healthcare, and one of the very bizarre arguments I mentioned that made so little sense I couldn't formulate a response.

This argument was that "healthcare is a right" is dangerous because somehow having that right means that any doctor who doesn't immediately give you healthcare when you want it for any reason is violating your rights. Like, if a doctor wanted to go home at the end of the day or take a vacation but a person came up to them and was like "HEALTHCARE ME NOW" they would have to forego that time off or they'd be violating your rights and could be arrested.

Yeah, I would have had an equal chance formulating a response to that nonsense in the moment as if he had said "bloobaloo because porpoise discharge."

"Healthcare is a human right" does not mean "healthcare is a human right that supersedes all other rights." Doctors have a right to time off, a right to work-life balance, and a right to freedom. There are many rights, and it's been established for centuries that a person's rights end where another person's rights begin. There is no ranking of rights. Just like the right to freedom of speech doesn't override the right to public and personal safety.

But the biggest reason this shit makes no sense is because every other "developed" (read: hasn't been royally fucked over by white-dominated countries) nation has universal healthcare and here is a list where this scenario that libertarians dreamed up has been a problem:

I'm talking about this now because That Guy didn't come up with this himself, obviously. I'm seeing this pop up on libertarian Facebook pages, thankfully only because a Facebook friend is arguing against this idea on the posts talking about it.

That Guy told me that it should be "a right to access to healthcare" instead, and my immediate thought was "sounds like exactly the same thing," but I can see this wording being twisted by the right as "well you have access to healthcare because if you're dying hospitals have to treat you" which is exactly the argument they use against universal healthcare. Of course, this is another argument that makes exactly zero sense because doctors attempting to resuscitate you when you're actively dying is not a substitute for actual healthcare. You still might die, and if you're on the verge of death because your cancer or other treatable disease has gone untreated because you can't afford treatment, you're still going to die way sooner than necessary because YOU HAVE FUCKING UNTREATED CANCER. And then the hospital will still bill you after, ruining your finances and possibly bankrupting your entire family and putting them on the street.

That is not healthcare. That is bullshit. That is deadly. That is violence.

So my hope is that people can be much more prepared than I was when coming up against this libertarian mental gymnastics and can put a stop to it before they do their first round-off back handspring. Just be like "this problem doesn't exist at all in every country where there is already universal healthcare, which is a lot." No doctors have been arrested for going on vacation or taking a nap. None. Bye.

On the GOP Baseball Game Shooting

I'm not gonna lie. My sympathy level for the people shot in this shooting is at 0. I do have sympathy for all the women in his life, especially his daughter and ex-wife, who were victims of his violence. And victims of the indirect but still very real violence of the GOP and their active refusal to do anything to curb the problem of male violence against women in this country. In fact, they encourage it, just like they encourage gun violence, including against politicians as long as they're on the other side of the aisle.

I put "you reap what you sow" into the Google image search and this came up:

Apparently Obama was sowing ninjas with big swords?

Yet the right can't understand that if you refuse to restrict gun access to people with histories of domestic violence and then actively encourage your base to shoot the opposition and then commit violence upon all average and poor Americans by fucking with their healthcare and do everything possible to keep them poor and desperate then YOU MIGHT GET YOUR ASS SHOT.

And when every other white male mass shooter in this country has been at least right-leaning, either Republican, Libertarian, or "Independent" (libertarian), you don't get to flip out when one single shooter volunteered for the Bernie Sanders campaign. Liberal rhetoric is not violent - it's non-violent to a fault, in my book. And Bernie is just solid liberal, not leftist or socialist.

So honestly cry me a fucking river, none of them even died, and they 100% brought this upon themselves. Maybe they'll begin to realize that they can't actually guarantee zero consequences for themselves as they work to decimate our healthcare access while keeping Obamacare for themselves.

Also, I don't know if the shooter intentionally targeted the Majority House Whip but if he did, he knew what he was doing, and I gotta say, if this helps keep Trumpcare from becoming a reality and killing off a few of my very sick friends, I'm going to end up regarding him as a hero.

The needs of the many.

With context, this is funny. Without, it's amazing.

Senate Trumpcare Bill Being Kept From the Public

Soooooooo the Senate Trumpcare bill being made by a committee of Republican white men is both being fast-tracked and they're refusing to release the draft to the public so we can actually see it. Ha ha.

Literally this is so bad.

McConnell won't let the public see his Trumpcare bill: 'We aren't stupid' says Republican staffer

Senate Republicans are on track to finish writing their draft health care bill this evening, but have no plans to publicly release the bill, according to two senior Senate GOP aides.
"We aren't stupid," said one of the aides. One issue is that Senate Republicans plan to keep talking about it after the draft is done: "We are still in discussions about what will be in the final product so it is premature to release any draft absent further member conversations and consensus."

Yeah we're fucked. And now this:

Democrats are weak and useless. They're just giving up. Honestly at this point tear down the whole government.

Sharia and Sharia Law

Thanks to the "march against Sharia law" last weekend, I decided to take the time to better educate myself on these terms. What I didn't know was that Sharia and Sharia law are two different things, not interchangeable. Thanks to Muslims for Progressive Values for publishing part of a book on these ideas for everyone to read.

In Arabic, the word “shari’a” means “way” or “path”. It is pronounced SHA-ree-ah. Shari’a is not a legal system. It is the overall way of life of Islam, as people understand it according to traditional, early interpretations. These early interpretations date from 700 to 900 CE, not long after the Prophet Muhammad(PBUH) died in 632 CE. Shari’a can evolve with Islamic societies to address their needs today.

Sounds to me kinda like the Christian Gospel, only much more flexible and progressive by definition.

Shari’a isn’t a legal system. It includes Islamic principles to help guide people to new answers, and it includes common cultural practices that had to do with a specific time and place in history. Muslim rulers wanted a way to make Shari’a into law. To do that, they decided which rules needed to be laws, first. Then they used interpretations of Shari’a to show people that the new laws were Islamic. The result was what we call Islamic Law.
Islamic Law is always based on someone’s interpretation of the Shari’a (which is an interpretation of the Qur’an and Hadith). Because it is a human interpretation, Islamic Law can mean different things in different places and at different times in history.

And this part is real important to hysterical Islamophobes:

Shari’a, whether called Islamic Law or not, contains religious obligations for Muslims—but they must be observed voluntarily. When the government enforces Shari’a rules as law, Muslims lose their freedom to choose from different views—and since they can’t choose, they also lose the chance to be rewarded by God for making good choices. Enforcement by the government encourages hypocrisy (saying or doing one thing, while believing another) and takes away freedom of belief.

By definition, Shari'a cannot be imposed on anyone, and certainly not on non-Muslims. So until the day that radical Islamic warlords take over the U.S., which will never happen, you don't have anything to worry or march about.

It's alarming that even Wikipedia gets this wrong. It's no wonder people are so confused and misinformed about Islam and Shari'a. But the fact is that legal codes that are influenced by Shari'a in majority Muslim countries are, in the vast majority of cases, only imposed on Muslim communities. So when Islamophobes break out survey results showing that the majority of the population in these communities want Shari'a to be "the law of the land," they're really just saying they want their lives to be guided by an important part of their faith. It's not much different from Christians who say they live their lives according to the Gospel. And much less alarming than Christians trying to make same-sex marriage and abortion illegal because their God says it's bad even though their God doesn't.

Who's trying to impose religious law upon those who don't follow that religion? Hmm? Project much?

I'm going to be doing more reading into Shari'a and Islam in general. If there's even another Islamophobe march, I'm going to be ready.

Yes whatever you want you can have it just stop melting  my heart.

Don't Believe People Telling You They're "Just Trolling"

This is important for anyone engaging in activism or I guess right now the outside world at all? This is important.

I mentioned in my post about the "march against Sharia law" that multiple people within the Islamophobia rally were throwing up a hand sign that looks like the "OK" signal. This:

I want to reiterate what I said about this because it's important to be aware of fascist tactics during this resurgence of fascism.

Other things I witnessed included a few of the men and one white woman throwing up the white power sign at us. This is something you should familiarize yourself with. It looks like the "OK" sign but has been appropriated by the modern white supremacist crowd. It's likely that this was done with the intent of confusing or "trolling" people (see this image from 4chan) though who can tell in this era of post-truth?
The fact is that white supremacists are using it to identify one another and and scare people of color and others. They chose it because it's still a very common and innocuous gesture to the vast majority of people, so they can accuse anyone using the "OK" sign of being a white supremacist, including people like President Barack Obama. So don't assume anyone using the OK sign is a racist, of course. But if they're doing it at a white supremacist rally, pointing it at people for seemingly no reason, or doing it with both hands and crossing their arms like it's some kind of gang symbol, assume the worst. Even if they're just doing it to "troll" people, it still tells you who they associate with, and they're still making a joke out of something supremely unfunny and making people of color fear for their lives, at the very least.

These people who call themselves "trolls" will insist that they're just doing these things for laughs. Whether it's spreading the idea that the OK sign is a white supremacist signal, or posting anti-semitic cartoons, or harassing marginalized persons and calling them hateful slurs, or doing the nazi salute, or pretty much acting and talking like straight up nazis all the time.

The thing is, if you become indistinguishable from the thing you're supposedly "pretending" to be to "trigger" people for laughs, then you might as well be that thing. You're causing just as much harm. And these people prove themselves again and again to be incredibly violent the moment anyone does anything to suggest that they should stop. So yeah, people see your "kekistan" flags and they feel afraid, unsafe, and unwelcome in the community. That's not their fault, it's yours. And if you're scaring all people of color, Jewish people, and LGBT+ people out of your community by pretending to be nazis, are you really any different from nazis? Other than having the most transparent, useless, and pathetic excuse in the universe: "it's just a joke."

Your defense is a joke.

So no matter what the fascist imagery is, no matter if they really did make up that something innocuous is a white supremacist symbol, it still identifies them as what they are. And if any of them tell you that they "just joking" or "just making fun of people who all everybody nazis," simply explain to them that their "jokes" have made it so none of them can be trusted when they say they're joking and not really fascists, and then run them out of town.

I Can't Stop Laughing At This

‘Black Panther’ movie poster slammed as ‘too black and militant’

Black Panther. Too black. Too militant.

This is why black people are allowed to make fun of us white people but we can't make fun of them. This right here. We bring it upon ourselves.

Here's the poster in question:

Lol yeah I can see why this would scare my fellow white people. I for one welcome our new militant black overlord.

"Too black and militant" oh my god.

Photos From the Seattle March for Islamophobia

I went to the counter-protest against the so-called "march against Sharia law" in Seattle after Portland white supremacists moved it here. It was disturbing, but nobody got shot so, hooray? Although I did hear that a group of "Proud Boys" (white supremacists with an extra helping of misogyny) went to the starting point of the counter-protest where the counter-protest group had met up after the racists were finished having their racism rally and randomly attacked people. Of course the attackers were left to walk free while the Seattle cops arrested those trying to protect the counter-protesters.

This is not surprising. The SPD made it no secret that they were there to protect the white supremacists. This is what met us counter-protesters at their rally point:

Cops, facing us, in riot gear, with big fucking sticks in their hands. That they didn't use to protect counter-protests when they were attacked by the violent fascists the above cops can be seen protecting. Yeah.

I left the counter-protest before the attack happened, thankfully. I was there with a new and incredibly brave friend who held a sign declaring Jewish solidarity with Muslims, and several of the racists across the divide singled her out, pointing at her and yelling, though it was impossible to hear them with all the noise, but they were clearly calling her a "Jew." It was scary. She didn't give a fuck and was ready to fight them and I would have fought with her, but I think we all know what these racists are capable of.

These are some of the people I caught making that sign:

Including the white woman on the right with the nasty hair. She was pointing and laughing at us with the men who think she's inferior to them and even blew me a kiss as I was capturing her white supremacist face.

This guy in the sunglasses and tattoos was the worst. He threw up the white power "OK" sign many times and him and his buddies were the ones shouting at my Jewish friend. I got him on video throwing up the sign and am hoping to figure out his name and employer.

These three are definite nazis. All throwing up the sign. The one on the left looks like a dump Richard Spencer took after yet another punch in the face.

I'm assuming the ugly bikini shirt was meant to be offensive to Muslims. Racist ladies who know nothing about Sharia law or Islam.

This guy was just embarrassing. He kept pulling the "Donald Trump mocking a disabled reporter" shit at us. Like he was an annoying five-year-old. But an actual adult.

Why do all racist white dudes look exactly the same?

This nerd. Had a rainbow kekistan flag on his shirt, which has got to be the most embarrassing and disgusting thing I've ever seen. Came with a matching smarmy face, is a good case for letting humanity destroy itself.

This guy was just very angry. Lots of finger jabbing and trying really hard to yell at us over the noise but he failed, couldn't hear anything he said. Desperately needs a chill pill and/or to be locked up because he's probably already assaulted people, especially any women in his life.

Trust fund racist.

This guy thought we would hear him if he rolled up a piece of paper into a tube and yelled into it.

A lot of old white racists there, probably only watch Fox News, ironically are a drain on society. One token hijabi woman there, I hope she's ok.

Those are the best photos I got. Avoid all these people. I'll be clipping the video I got and posting it later. I have more of the same people and can post them upon request if you think you know them but need other photos to be sure.

The good news is that the counter-protest was likely 10 times bigger than the racism-fest. Antifa was there with noisemakers and this serious speaker setup that made a freight train noise. All the racists could do was pretend they liked it while their speakers spoke into the wind. Was pretty awesome.
