So we've all heard about Comey getting fired by now. And honestly my feeling around it is still "lol karma hurts, huh Comey?" But at the same time, wow, the president firing the head of the FBI during an investigation into something that could very well be actual fucking treason. It's like we've become one of the dictatorships we set up in the Middle East or South America so that we could have greater control of their resources!
But also, this:
Reporter arrested after repeatedly questioning Health secretary
Dan Heyman, a reporter for Public News Service, said he was arrested at the West Virginia State Capitol after trying to ask Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price a question about the House-passed healthcare bill to repeal and replace ObamaCare as the secretary was entering the building.
In a press conference held shortly after posting bail, Heyman said he asked Price repeatedly about whether domestic violence is considered a pre-existing condition under the new GOP healthcare bill.
Good question! From what I've seen, the answer is "yes" but yeah, make him answer for it. Or don't, because apparently that's an arrestable offense now.
Of course, police argue that they were justified because Heyman was "aggressively breaching the secret service agents to the point where the agents were forced to remove him a couple of times from the area walking up the hallway in the main building of the Capitol." Sounds like standard journalist behavior to me but okay. And yet:
The officer who filed the report said he and another officer “were able to detain the defendant before he tried aggressively to breach the security of the secret service.”
Which is it, officers? Why can't you ever keep your story straight? Did you arrest him because he was breaching security or did you arrest him because you thought he was going to?
Heyman has apparently been charged with "willful disruption of governmental processes." I guess that was the process of Tom Price walking into a building where there was supposed to be a press conference that Price didn't even attend?
