Why I Don't Trust Men: Part 2935983260519827

[TRIGGER WARNING: SIMULATED CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE, RAPE CULTURE]

"Why do you hate men?" people ask me.

"Have you ever met men?" I respond.

You may have heard of the statue of the little girl bravely standing before the Wall Street Bull that was put in place on this year's International Women's Day. It's meant to highlight the lack of women in the financial district or show that girls are fearless or some shit, I dunno. I didn't write about it because I honestly think it's a weak show of support from a massive "asset management" company that pulls in billions of dollars in revenue every year.

State Street Global Advisors could have done a whole lot more than commissioned one small statue that will be removed after a month. To me it seems like a meaningless gesture likely calculated by the marketing department as a PR opportunity. They're still a huge part of the U.S. capitalist beast that has murdered countless women across the globe. I think it's telling that the girl has nothing at all to defend herself with and would in actuality be gored and trampled to death by an angry capitalism bull.

But as lukewarm as I am on this "Defiant Girl" statue, I am still incredibly pissed off at this guy:

Photo of Wall Street bro humping ‘Fearless Girl’ feminist statue goes viral

So they place an image of a little girl meant to represent "girl power" or whatever in a half-assed statement of support for women's participation in capitalism in front of your representation of the toxic masculinity-fueled imaginary money market and that threatens your masculinity so hard that you pretend to sexually assault a little child? Did I get that right?

“Almost as if out of central casting, some Wall Street finance broseph appeared and started humping the statue while his gross date rape-y friends laughed and cheered him on,” Alexis Kaloyanides captioned the picture. “He pretended to have sex with the image of a little girl. Douchebags like this are why we need feminism.”

Yeah no shit. I wasn't wild about this statue but if it exposed this asshole as the fragile sexual abuse-promoting piece of shit that he is then it was worth it.

Here's the guy's face:

I don't know if he's been identified but I hope his name gets dragged through the mud so bad that he has to change his name and move to Antarctica.

This is why I don't trust men. Any time there's any show of support for women, for gender equality, even the most capitalist moderate-liberal milquetoast PR-boosting bullshit statement of "hey women are also good and can do things," some dude has to come rub his crotch on it. This is the most base show of toxic masculinity, and it's particularly repulsive that it's on a statue of a child in a society where child sexual abuse is so pervasive.

Child sexual abuse is about power. Adults should not be sexually attracted to children. Those who are get off on the massive amount of power they have over children, who naturally trust adults. Rape in general is also about power. Sexual assault, sexual degradation, from catcalling all the way up to rape, is and has always been about power. It's about showing that you have complete power over another human being and exercising that power in the worst way possible.

That's what this guy is doing. The statue threatened his sense of power over women and girls so he thought: "Girl power? Oh no, I'll show that I have all the power by humping the representation of female power and completely getting away with it." And if his sense of power is so fragile as to be threatened by a statue of a little girl standing up to a representation of his own male ego, I would not be at all surprised if he has been violent toward actual living women and girls.

That is why it's so important to refuse to tolerate shit like this. Men like this Wall Street douchebro need to learn that there are consequences for their actions. When they don't, they turn into Donald Trumps.
