She Persisted

Well, they confirmed Betsy "Fuck Education" DeVos as Secretary of Education, so it's time to move on to resisting Jeff Sessions. I'm hoping him being totally cool with the KKK as long as they don't smoke the marijuana will make it easier to stop him from being confirmed than the woman who has no experience in education and wants to destroy the department she was just put in charge of. (But Republicans in general want it destroyed, which is why they just introduced a bill to do just that, because fuck the children.)

The fight has already started in the Senate, with liberal warrior Elizabeth Warren taking the spotlight by trying to shame the shameless GOP with a letter from Loretta Scott King opposing Sessions' appointment to a federal judge position in 1986. Based on the fact that the guy is racist as all hell. The Republican senators found it to be too mean to poor Mr. Sessions, so they declared that Warren wasn't allowed to talk about him anymore by invoking an old, obscure, never-used-anymore rule. Mitch McTurtle barely tried to justify this by saying: "She was warned. She was given an explanation. Nevertheless, she persisted."

Again, it gives me hope that old fascist regimes (the ones that Republicans have been pulling plays from) never had to contend with always being watched by the common people. Or with Twitter.

#ShePersisted: social media erupts after Mitch McConnell silences Elizabeth Warren

Thanks for that rallying cry, Mitch. We will persist.
