Activism Opportunity

Did you know that Miss Major, a black trans woman who was a key player at the Stonewall riots that sparked the gay pride movement, has a Go Fund Me operating because she recently retired and still needs food and shelter? A lifetime of activism doesn't give you a lot of spare money to save for your golden years, and social security is a fucking joke and is only getting more hilarious.

This woman gave her life to help people but gets very little credit for her work. She is rarely named among either black or LGBTQ+ activists. Why? Because she's a black trans woman, of course.

We can't fix the past, but we can help give her a decent retirement.

Miss Major's Monthly Giving Circle

Over $80,000 has been collected for her so far, but keep in mind that this was over the past 45 months. That's 1,800 per month, which is difficult for anyone to live on, let alone an aging black trans woman. Her expenses are actually laid out for each month, and if she lives in San Francisco, rent that low probably means she lives in a one bedroom apartment. She deserves so much better than that. So if you're white or cis or a person, consider donating a bit to her if you can. If you're white, you can think of it as a small contribution toward reparations during this Black History Month.
