How Appropriate

Donald Trump is having trouble finding performers for his inauguration because everybody hates him, which is fucking beautiful. What's not beautiful is the fact that the union for the Rockettes may be forcing some of them to perform at the crowning of our possible first dictator/sith lord, saying that any who refuse will be fired, according to an email sent to dancers.

The New York Times is now reporting that the spokesperson for the managing company of the Rockettes says the appearances are voluntary, and in fact more Rockettes have volunteered for the inauguration than they have slots for! Funny, that's not what the American Guild of Variety Artists' email said.

The company’s statement seemed to contradict an email from the American Guild of Variety Artists to some of the dancers, which was forwarded to The New York Times.
“If you are full time, you are obligated,” that message read. “Doing the best performance to reflect an American institution which has been here for over 90 years is your job. I hope this pulls into focus the bottom line on this work.”

I haven't seen the full email, but that doesn't sound like a voluntary thing. It doesn't necessarily say they'll be fired, either, but combined with sentiments from former Rockettes saying that they constantly felt in fear for their jobs, I'd say the threat of termination is there.

And how appropriate, not only that a troupe of women who feel like they're owned by a corporation that also appears to select outfits for them that are not for the purpose of improving their dance performance has been invited to perform for Donald Trump's inauguration, but now it seems that they're basically being forced to perform. Or they'll be FIRED.

Mike Pence or no Mike Pence, the sooner Donald Trump dies, the better.
