Recommended Reading

I talked yesterday about gaining weight and the struggle to accept it and not try to punish myself for eating or think of myself as weak as my body changes. And that's why I need articles like this:

So I've Gained Weight. SO WHAT?

It's a really short piece so I recommend it for everyone, but especially if you're struggling with body image or struggling not to judge others for their bodies. What I really love about it is simply the subheader.

Real Talk: My body is going to keep changing for the rest of my life.

I want our societal attitude about fat and general body changes to be just that. It's inevitable. Therefore you might as well embrace and celebrate it.

Becoming older means the body changes, and everyone's body changes differently. Not just weight, but metabolism, hormone levels and balance, skin appearance, body shape, hair color, bone density, muscle mass, amount of body hair, and so on. Change is the only constant in life. You can diet and exercise all you want, but your body will keep changing. And the type of diets and exercise that are best for you will change.

And always remember that not everyone has the money and/or energy and/or time to do what's best for their bodies. We all just do the best we can. Be kind to yourself and don't judge others.
