Then, more recently, a land-use deal that would have allowed the city to build an entirely new basketball arena so that we could have a new men's basketball team (fuck entitled man whiners apparently can't play anywhere the fuck else) went before the Seattle city council for a vote. It was defeated, with the women on the counsel all voting against it and the men, who are currently the gender minority, all voting for it.
Can you guess what happened next?
Many of the tweets and messages asked the women to “end their own lives,” talked about the violent things these women “deserved,” and more. According to the Seattle Times, one e-mail read, “As women, I understand that you spend a lot of your time trying to please others (mostly on your knees) but I can only hope that you each find ways to quickly and painfully end yourselves.” This e-mail comes from Jason Feldman, a lawyer who is currently serving a two-and-a-half year suspension from the bar association stemming from a separate case alleging he had sexual relations with a client. Feldman followed up his comments separately to a reporter for The Stranger, saying, “Make sure that you understand the level of scrutiny that is afforded political speech under the First Amendment.”
Hey Feldman. Fuck your political speech right up the asshole with Carnegiea gigantea. And get a job.
I don't know much about this issue because who cares about men's sports, amirite? But I'm guessing that perhaps the nay-saying councilors thought that Seattle's money could be put to better use, like perhaps fixing our crumbling roads, caring for our homeless, or addressing our massive heroin problem?
So much for Seattle being a progressive haven. Then again, I've long known that you can't trust so-called liberal dudes around here for shit, not even to refrain from telling women to kill themselves over fucking sports.
My full support goes out to all five women on the Seattle city council for doing the right thing and not backing down in the face of man whining. Thank you Kshama Sawant, Lisa Herbold, Debora Juarez, Sally Bagshaw, and Lorena González. You rule.
