There is some beautiful shit on Tumblr, I tell you what.
For example, user "vampmissedith" wrote an incredible post about her personal experiences with dangerous male entitlement and how extremely common it is for other men to blame women for the violent actions of the men they reject.
I don't want to steal the whole story from this person, but neither can I take an excerpt because the whole thing goes together so well.
Please just go to their blog and read it all. It's so important.
I will post a part of her conclusion:
Girls are being killed for saying no to prom invites. Girls are being killed for saying no to men. They are creating an atmosphere where women are too scared to say no, and the worst part is? They are doing it intentionally. They want society to be that way, they want women to say yes entirely out of fear. Even the boys and men who aren’t showing up to schools with guns are saying; “Well, you know, I wouldn’t do that, but you have to admit that if she had just said yes …”
It's mind-blowingly ridiculous to say that any woman who was faced with violence or the threat of violence for saying no to a man should have just "given him a chance." Are you fucking kidding me? You expect us to just go ahead and date men who become violent when we say no to them? Do you realize what kind of relationship that would be? If a woman threatened to kill YOU if you said no to a date, would you ever for a second think "well I should have just given her a chance."
NO. DO NOT SPEND ANY TIME WITH PEOPLE WHO THREATEN YOUR LIFE. JESUS FUCK THAT SHOULD NOT BE NEWS TO YOU.
I don't know why I have to actually tell people this, but if you say no to a date with someone and their reaction is to attack you, threaten you, or pull a gun on you, your takeaway from that interaction should not be "oh, I should have given them a chance." Your takeaway should be "wow, my instincts about that person were totally right, good job, me."
Because you just dodged a serious and POSSIBLY NOT METAPHORICAL bullet. Okay? Good talk. Fucking hell.
