David Shipley, Spitfire Capital Advisors

UPDATE 9/18/2017: After two and a half years, apparently actual Spitfire Capital Advisors contacted me to say that they found this old blog post, were appalled by David's behavior, and have fired him, citing among the reasons for his firing his behavior toward me all that time ago. I guess I should have just emailed them about it, because apparently they're a company with some moral standards. It keeps me going to know that even though I'm unimportant, a guy who treated me like that will face consequences. If you need advice on capital, Spitfire is alright.

Oh look, another misogynist using his full name while being grossly misogynistic on the Internet!

Did you Google David Shipley and/or his company to research him? Check out these screenshots of things he and his friend actually said on Twitter:

I had called this guy out for telling a woman to "provide a source" on an easily Google-able statistic about female-led businesses getting only 7% of investment money. Because men are constantly tasking women with "proving" the existence of misogyny when the correct response of a privileged person is to give the oppressed the benefit of the doubt and use all that energy you have from not being oppressed to do the research yourself. I also explained that it was a function of privilege that he was even surprised at the 7% statistic, because I sure wasn't.

After a lengthy argument about male privilege and him pretty much being your standard ignorant super privileged dude who gets super offended when you suggest that he's part of the problem, he decided that the best way to respond to my challenges was to invite a female Twitter friend to start making gross misogynistic "jokes" like this at me. Because hahahaha saying things that men in power actually still believe and say all the time because they literally think women are inferior is so funny hahahaha edgy shit, bro.

But David Shipley is not a 13-year-old boy. He's a grown man with a company. If you don't want to give money to a misogynist with the maturity of a 13-year-old boy, I suggest you find a different company.

Funny thing is, as soon as I said that I was going to screenshot his tweets for distribution, he blocked me and set his account to protected status. It even looks like he's taken down his LinkedIn account. So clearly, he knew that what he was doing was wrong and chose to do it anyway. Not the actions of a good person who deserves professional success, I think.

If you check his Twitter account now (it's now open again), you can see him spending his spare time trying to say that gratuitous gawking at women isn't harassment and posting and agreeing with an article saying that we shouldn't prosecute old men who sexually abused children a lot of years ago.

Do you want to hire a child rapist advocate? Do you?

Just trying to inform the innocent consumers.
