Headline of the Month

Are you ready for this one?

Fewer Women Run Big Companies Than Men Named John

No seriously.

Like, in this pile, we have all the women running big companies. All of them. And in this other pile, we have all the men named John running big companies. The John pile is bigger.

Oh my god.

But there's no wage/professional gap, right?

What it seems to be is that they are focusing on the wrong part of that study. They say "when you compare apples to apples there is not wage gap" (I thought I heard it was there, but only about 7%)

The importance of the study is to open up a conversation about why women just magically choose these low paying jobs en masse. They don't care about that, though. Just proving us "wrong". They think that by saying that society can influence jobs women take we are "forcing women to go against their will/nature" and "painting all women as victims".

Then they usually go on to say that if a woman really wanted that job she would tough it out. To that I say' why should she have to?
