What Rape Culture?

So former rap star and current TV celebrity who had like 2 million Twitter fans and lord knows how many impressionable children looking up to him CeeLo Green took to Twitter the other day to spread such heinous rape apology the likes of which I rarely even see from MRAs.

This came just after pleading "no contest" to a charge that he slipped a woman ecstasy. This woman also accused him of rape, seeing as she woke up the next morning in his bed with no memory of the previous night.

The 39-year-old took to Twitter to defend himself, replying to users’ comments on the case with a series of bizarre statements about rape.
“If someone is passed out they’re not even WITH you consciously,” he said, adding, “People who have really been raped REMEMBER!!!”

Me While CeeLo Green is talking

They couldn't charge him with rape due to "lack of evidence" (of course) but were able to find evidence to charge him with felony drug possession, for which he got three years probation. Probably a harsher sentence than he would have received for raping a woman, anyway.

Shortly after this tweetastrophe, he deleted them, then deleted his account after tweeting an "apology."

“Let me 1st praise god for exoneration fairness & freedom! Secondly I sincerely apologize for my comments being taken so far out of context.”

That is the worst apology I've ever seen. "I'm so sorry that you screwed up by thinking that when I said it only counts as rape if a woman remembers it."

I've really only ever seen the lowest of the lowly trolls trying to claim that sexual contact with someone who's unconscious isn't rape. And yet here we have a fairly huge celebrity, who was a judge on The Voice and just got his own TBS reality show, saying that if a woman was heavily drugged or unconscious and then raped, she would magically remember it somehow even though that's impossible. Thereby implying that unconscious people can't be raped.

This is the twisty-turny logic of a man who is so much more concerned with his reputation than the well-being of the woman to whom he is not saying that he didn't slip ecstasy. And people are saying that Jennifer Lawrence is a bad role model because someone stole her private photos????

That's not even the end of this fuckery. Here he is basically saying that only violent rape counts:

That's what rape kits are for. Of course there's no backlog of photos of broken glass and shit.

Then this:

When I talk about rape culture, what I'm really talking about is "people don't give a fuck about rape" culture. This guy cares so little about the crime of rape that he doesn't even fucking know what it is. Nobody gave enough of a shit to explain to him at some part of his life that having sex with an unconscious person is still rape and that attempted rape is still bad. And he doesn't care to learn now, he just wants to preserve his reputation with shitty tweets so that he can keep making money.

And the cherry turd on top of this shit sundae is that even though his reality show was cancelled by TBS, the reason they gave for this was because of "low ratings." Let's not even mention that fact that he's a blatant rape apologist fuckhat. We don't want to send the message that we stand in solidarity with survivors and against rape. Ratings. That's all that matters to them. Because they don't give a fuck about rape.

Different places. I just Googled things like "anger gif" and come upon these things, or I'll stumble upon them on Tumblr randomly.
