Stretch Marks Are Beautiful

80% of people in the US have them. And they're all beautiful.

So says I, and a new photo project called Love Your Lines. It started as an Instagram account which has gotten over 24,000 followers in eight days. People submit black and white photos of their beautiful stretch marks with their stories of how they discovered their beauty.

The two women who created the project have remained anonymous, because they don't want fame. They want the focus to be on the women who come forward and share their stretch marks. DAMN that is awesome.

The photos show that all kinds of women have stretch marks in all kinds of places, and no one should be made to feel like they need to be hidden. I agree. They're tiger stripes! Earned not just from giving birth but from growing, changing, evolving, surviving, and living.

WARNING: Avoid calling women with stretch marks "real women." All women are real women. Thin women have thin privilege but this doesn't make them fake women.
