Activism Opportunity

This is one of those things that might be too terrible to even look at, but try.

Someone started a GoFundMe campaign for Darren Wilson. You know, the police officer who shot and killed Mike Brown, the unarmed, surrendering teenager. It's to "support" him during this "trying time" and cover his legal fees and any other expenses he might incur in the aftermath of his committing murder.

You might not want to look at how much has been raised so far. It might make you hate the world.

Instead, you can go directly to the page to report a campaign. Fill out a quick form and include the URL for the Support Officer Darren Wilson page:

The Tumblr blog that first posted about this says that the campaign is against the GoFundMe Terms of Service. I don't really care if it is or not, because it should be against anyone Terms of Service to support racist murderers with money. And it should be against their moral code to take 5% of the cash raised to support racist murderers. So.

A sample message has been provided if you want to copy and paste it in real quick:

Your Terms of Service prohibit “items that promote… hate, racial intolerance, or the financial exploitation of a crime.” Take a look at the comments that come with the donations on this page and tell me that doesn’t violate your terms. “Support Officer Wilson” is a thin veil for people rewarding Wilson for killing a black kid.

It actually looks like comments may have been removed. If you look at the list of donors, you can find a handy list of racists!

People will be giving money to Darren Wilson no matter what, but the more we pressure companies like this to show that racism will not be tolerated, the better. It takes like 30 seconds.
